Electrical problem

I was trying to hook up a fresh water pump rocker switch behind my 88 bullet dashboard. I must have hooked up something wrong because when I tested my blower rocker switch I noticed a power surge on the dashboard evidenced by multiple gauges moving. Then their was a popping noise. The result was that multiple systems do not work via the battery but work with shore power hooked up. For example, the hatch is wired to work with the battery switches selected to off. Now the hatch will not open and I hear clicking noise from a solenoid switch mounted on the bulkhead in the engine compartment. In sum, systems will work with shore power but not with batteries. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Fixed by itself.

Ground to hot??

How does a ground to hot work or not work in a 12 volt system?

I'm no electrician but my buddy had a problem on a Vette one time where he accidentally hooked a ground wire to 12V hot and it caused all kinds of problems. It was activating windshield wipers, radio, and other equipment. It took a while to find it becuase it was back feeding so many other areas.

I was just curious what the problem was. Electrical problems can be tricky. Sometimes its just a simple fix like this one was. His turned out to be a ground wire hooked directly to the starter positive terminal. Heck the wire fit the terminal. :)
