The "yellowboat" that now has the Arnesons has more speed potential with the current power, I found out they blew an engine during the sea trail, so a rebuild and try again is in order.
I don't know how reliable the 920 hp figure is/was or the current 720-730 figure for that matter. A different set of propellers is needed as the sea trial was just a seal trial and any prop would do. I at least have a better idea as to what propellers they will actually need "at this power level" to get the boat to go faster. |

Yeah, I wasn't meaning top speed as much as overall handling at top speed.
It's in a few of those SCOPE videos and runs with a great attitude and flys perfect at speed. I don't know what they did different in the setup from the other two #6 TS guns, but it's the right one. If he dry sumped it he might gain a little, but I doubt it'd be enough to be worth it on that type of boat. I'm still amazed it took so long to sell that boat when it was new! and true, we can run 108-110 any day with half tanks of gas... I'll try to make a video of it this weekend.... we run Torco RTF in our drives, so I don't think we lose that much to the half dry-sump 6's.... now if we had Vern do a complete dry-sump Weismann style drive...it would make more of a difference. Yes, we also have the Hering skegs already done.... I think if we need to go faster it would be cheaper to just change the pulleys.... I finally got a copy of the '07 Rum Run race (which I must say we got some good coverage). Tried to PM you, but it didn't work...let me know if you want a copy. |

I have my PM's disabled to weed out the "why doesn't my password work" bombings.....:party-smiley-004: I'd LOVE a video of your boat! It's always been a favorite of mine since the first time I saw it. I'll send you my email through PM, and you can send me ANYTHING you want involving that boat. :drink: |

Nate, the red boat, I think it has 1000hp Cobras and the yellow boat has 1200hp Cobras. The red boat is really good looking boat.

What about the purple boat with the #6s? That has to be right up there in speed. Sorry I can't find any pics.

Thought I'd ask this question as I have no idea.
2003' 38' Top Gun with Bravos. How much hp is typically required to get the boat to 100 mph? Customer has one with pro charged engines claiming ~900 hp and does right at 100 mph. Can this be right? Hey Rik What up buddy. I did a 38 2001 Top Gun nonstep with 900 Zuls #6 that ran 102-104 on its best day. 2000 TS F2 Dick Simon Boat ran 90-91 0n its best day so yes it is possible to run 100 with 900hp on bravos |
