92 Top Gun

http://www.offshoreonlyclassifieds.c...o18879-en.html

What do you guys think of this boat? Sounds like a lot for a 92.

seafordguy 01-05-2009 10:37 AM

It's been discussed a few times. Apparently the boat is unbelievable and looks brand new - except for that annoying flat bottom, and full cabin.

If I remember correctly it was origanally priced at 229 or more. He has come down. I think if he knocks another hundred grand off it will move.......

OldSchool 01-05-2009 10:46 AM

Personally....I'd like for him to get asking price. But that isn't going to happen. There's an azz for that seat, but it's a tough one to find!!! We all know what the guy paid for the boat and it's not going to bring that $$$ now. It is a beauty!

Where's Dreamer, he could tell us what it's worth!:drink::evilb::ernaehrung004:

SKRAMER 01-05-2009 11:08 AM

Awesome rig!!!!

I was looking for some old treads on the boat and couldn't find any.

Do you remember what he paid for it?

bajaholic 01-05-2009 02:16 PM

I have seen that boat up close and personal a couple of years ago, and by the pics it still looks just as good.

It is truly a work of art. VERY expensive compared to the year/brand/price guide, but this boat should be in NO WAY compared to any other boat in the NADA guide. Pictures do not even do it justice.

The only bad side of this boat is if you need financing and then getting "value" insurance because they go generally based on NADA, so the percentages are harder to justify.

You would be hard pressed to find a newer cig that looks any less detailed in shape for thousands of dollars more. Besides almost everything was replaced during the resoration anyhow.

Bottom line, if you want a real head turner it is the boat for you!

Quiet Storm 01-05-2009 06:20 PM

Yea, it's a looker but how do you think it would run. The owner claims 90 top end.

If it's set up correctly, close to 90 or 90 is possible. Are they wet or dry sump #6's? Probably more believable if they've been converted. Being a '92, it's probably much lighter than my '88 kevlar TG as they were laying them up light in that era so they would run with 502's and Bravos.

That boat was advertised by the last owner for I think around 200K and sold quickly. That along with what the current owner is asking should give you a good idea of what it sold for.:drink::eureka:

Just my opinion, I'm not trying to come off as some douchebag that think that he knows everything, but I remember the boat well. Although it's nicer than mine, it's somewhat of a similar boat as mine and I'd love to see it sell for close to what he's asking. :) I'll see if I can find any past threads on it.

and that is with NA motors, it has a blower hatch set up, bolt on a couple whipple 5.0's and there ya go, a rock solid 100 plus maybe even 110...and built to last.

Zero Patience 01-05-2009 07:19 PM

Beautiful, Rough Water, Boat.

Quiet Storm 01-05-2009 07:58 PM

The #6's are the new style dry sump. He said they were new in 05.

I put Whipples on my Checkmate many moons ago and loved them.

The only weak thing on the boat that I can see is the Velvet transmissions. I'm not sure if they were beefed up or could handle more HP even if they were beefed up.

Nykamp 01-06-2009 05:34 AM

Thats a great looking TG, trannys are not that big of deal. I have one for sale for 1000 plus HP for $2500.00. My tranny guy in Grand Rapids can beef up the ones in that boat for not a lot of money.

The trans are not stock Velvet Drives, they are beefed up 72C's I believe they are Huber trannies.

This is the boat I referred to in the thread about #6 boats. I've been around this boat some and my jaw drops every time I see her. The paint is incredible.

Can you give me a link to that thread?

You hit it on the head. The book value of the boat is $46,500. The financers will go heigher based on the added value but nowhere near what he's asking.

That shouldn't be a problem since he won't get anywhere near what he is asking.

Unfortunately (at least in my opinion) no matter HOW nice the boat is, people in that range can get a T/S gun or tiger that is damn near new, is faster with more reliable power, does better fuel wise, and will be an easier resale, and can get some financing for it..... This boat at any price he's probably willing to accept, appeals to VERY few people - namely those that are dying for a brand new feeling cig, have cash, and have a vested interest in having the full cabin with enclosed head.

Quiet Storm 01-06-2009 01:27 PM

Yea, there’s plenty out there with XR drives but not many with #6’s in that price range. That’s the draw for me. I've spent way too much time limping home on a busted drive.

GETTINBYE 01-06-2009 05:27 PM

The owner is a very good friend of mine. He docks it right behind my boat. I have been all over this boat and the pics really do not do it justice. Yes maybe high dollar for a "92" but one really needs to see the boat in person before passing to much judgement. And in does sound real nice from the rear at some 12 feet away!

I can almost guarantee, if you were in the Cig market, in that price range,And were able to write the check... If you looked at 10 boats, then looked at this one, regardless of age/power etc, you would by this one. It is that nice!

I dont care who you are (unless you count beans for a living) EMOTION is why we pick what we do... Lets face it, financially boating makes no sense anyhow. BUY what turns you on, who really cares what anyone else thinks! If it isn't the deal for you, then don't get it.

Last I heard, there was a bunch of those "Counters" in the stock market... Lost alot more money than that boat, and have nothing but a piece of paper to wipe the tears away with.

JMHO

Nykamp 01-06-2009 06:48 PM

This is a one off boat, how many straight bottom #6 TG's are for sale? Those are the only boats you can compare this boat with, not twin steps with bravos. I am sure it is like my 41 Apache thats for sale not must sell.

Quiet Storm 01-08-2009 09:12 AM

Alez Vite's for sale? Now that's a hardcore boat. That would be my choice of boats, if I could afford it, but my partner needs a little more room and comforts.

Hooter1 01-08-2009 10:08 AM

I walk by this boat alot at the State Dock. It stays on a lift and it is really a good looking boat. I would say that 90% of the people out there would not be able to tell the year of it without looking at the transom numbers. It really looks new......
