Trs Top Guns

Are there any TRS Top Guns that are priced to sell other then the OHIO boat on EBAY. Just haven't seen many. I thought maybe someone has some inside info.

jmackin 01-25-2009 02:07 PM

I believe this boat is now priced in the 60's, not positive though. It has #3's and a fresh water boat.

Curious - does anyone know the reserve on the Ohio boat?

TOP CIG 01-25-2009 04:40 PM

Name of the thread is TRS top guns. Not ssm III or converted bravo.:party-smiley-004:

cigrocket 01-25-2009 04:42 PM

I haven't seen any available that are priced right. The ohio boat is the only one. I am sure there are others but I think with the economy the way it is, people are holding on to what they have.

I heard he wanted 60,000 but not positive, I have seen it hit high 30's on Ebay a few times, someone I know offered 45 he said no way... I guess I have no idea but thought I would [post what I have heard, J-bonz has seen the boat, said it is very clean, it is in his marina

jeff1000man 01-25-2009 08:40 PM

The problem is that there are nicer non- TRS boats on this site for the same money as the trs boats.

Also remember that your insurance is going to go through the roof because of the age.

With the way the insurance is running on a lot of these things, it is better to just buy more boat and factor the insurance savings into your payment. At least you will have a more current boat. Keep in mind that eventually you too, are going to have to find a buyer, and they only get older.

I guess with the huge response of TRS Top Guns available, I have my answer. I know alot of them have TRS packages. I guess they are hanging on to them through the economy.

cigrocket 01-26-2009 11:52 AM

If this post came up a year ago, it would have a dozen boats, plus listed in January

Perlmudder 01-26-2009 01:11 PM

whats with that single wheel at the back of the trailer?

Wow, I didn't notice that, the trailer looks like it was designed for about a 32' boat. Then they added the wheels. Look where the 3 axeles are located in comparison to the hull itself. That is........not good. Maybe as a yard trailer. WOW

DucBoy 01-26-2009 04:12 PM

Interesting - I made arrangements to look at this boat on the trailer, when I got there the boat was in the water and the trailer was not available for viewing (the "cold" engines nearly burned my hand as well...).

That actually looks like a decent deal depending on what power is in there.

Yea, maybe some OSOer's from there know of it?

There are guys out there that would rather have a trs boat over a bravo boat, especially in a larger heavier application.
What's wrong w/ a TRS boat?
There are plenty of parts.
Service is easy.
TRS puts COG a bit more forward.
Smoother shifts.
More durable.
Bravo would be a bit faster.
I think if one were looking for SPEED, they wouldn't be looking at older guns.

But, in the same long breath... i see the 3 in the same light, just not sure about the parts.
And w/ a TRS(or 3), you could always put a konrad on it.

Hollowpoint 01-30-2009 12:37 PM

Sorry, I don't think I've ever seen that boat around here, but "here" is a large area.

STRAIGHTPRIORITY 01-30-2009 01:14 PM

Bottom line is bravo tg's bring more $ and are alot easier to sell. That top gun is probably a 98 and looks well kept and updated. It is worth a heck of a lot more than the older trs boats mentioned. It is priced right in this market. If you pay $60k for an older 420 trs boat in this market your nutz! IMO.:food-smiley-007:

Well, i understand the whole resale thing, but not at the cost of my enjoyment of the boat.
They don't call them bravo butts for nothing.
IMO, buy what you want and enjoy it... It's what this sport is all about.

jeff1000man 01-30-2009 09:41 PM

If you can buy an older TRS boat with GENUINE potential. Not all of them have potential IMO.

You can get them for cheap, and with modern Big Natural power and good trannies, clean interior, they will stay the same value forever. 35-50K. I just don't see them dropping below that.

birdog 01-31-2009 06:50 AM

When i was shopping i started looking for a TRS boat thinking I would upgrade to konrads when needed. Then I found a ssmv boat....Never looked back..

I agree.......... We lucked out in our case cause we DID NOT want Bravos............. :) The only thing I regret is tha lack of room in the engine compartment.

Still lots of room in my Mistress engine compartment. 540's, Huber Trannies and Konrads. You can hide some bodies in there, depending on what you need. You may find a TRS Top Gun, but the ones I have seen, people are keeping because they are in excellent condition, or they are beat and outdated that run 60. Just less and less nice TRS boats available. People hang on to them because they are reliable.
