"stillsmokin" cig in illinois
does anyone have any info on this boat? I know it used to run on the chain o lakes in northern illinois years ago. it is a late seventys aranow hull from what I remember. the lettering was in several colors down the whole side of the boat. I assume it is just rotting away where it is sitting? it has not moved in years, does anyone have more info on the boat or has anyone ever inquired about purchasing it from the owner?

Hi There...Thanks Guys for your your interest... Still Smokin is a 1979 Cigarette Mistress with a race fairing... I was told the boat was made special with more rocker on the bottom By Don Aronow for either Jerry Jacoby or a fella named Eisman not sure who..But it is one fast 35 and it loves big water... It has 572's that Dyno at 850HP at 4750 rpm with SSM3's Gaffrig tube headers... The boat is a rocket ship for this vintage of Cigarette's and runs in the 80,s and the fastest on GPS was 88 MPH... It has been sitting for over 7 yrs. but always started every season.
I Love this boat and never wanted to sell it... I am either going to start running it again or sell it...I am in my early 60's and getting the bug to do something.... I have no idea what the boat is worth now....Maybe some of you guys on the Forum can give me an idea on the value of this boat... Kind Regards Jim |
Would love to see plenty of pictures of this beauty!

I remember that boat running around the chain, you use to come out of Mutiny Club?
|
Hi Again....Yes I used to keep it at the Mutiny Club when I was on the chain... I also kept it at North Point Marina on Lake Michigan... I tried loading pictures but I don't know what photo bucket is on my computer... So I sent some pics to Sick Stinger and he will post them for me..

Kind Regards Jim I would guess even with the history and big CI motors, etc you could be looking hi 20's /low 30's(trailer??) or maybe 40's if perfect & very lucky. Then again, could be pristine? or 7yrs weathered? So would take a bit of surveying to determine what price range it would really fall into, but it's still not a good market to be selling/trying to sell these, "older", go-fast, Cigs, unfortunately. Anyway if you want any specifics on my sale drop me a PM. Regards and good luck whatever you decide. Chris |
Jim, keep the boat and start running it again. You'll get the hang of it real quick and be glad you did.

I love those old boats.

Hi Again.... I think I want a 38 Top Gun and I think I am going to sell my boat..... Would I be better to part it out or sell it complete? In the 90's I had the boat Re Gelcoated and there there were areas that has liffted and that was one of the reasons I wasn't using the boat...so it would need to be repaired and I think that won't be cheap.. It has 850hp 572ci high dollar motors with the best of everything and were built by a famous Nascar engine builder that knew his stuff these motors are Bullet Proof... and SSM3's with Gaffrig big tube headers.. I was thinking about parting it out Motors/Drives/Headers/ Transmissions/ Boat and trailer?
What would be your suggestions.... Thank You Jim |
what would u want for motors and drives i have a 86 mistress
|
Hi There.... I was thinking of keeping the motors.... Let me think about that....I will either sell the boat with the drives or I will part it out... Not sure what would be the best way... I also have Tube Headers for this boat if I part it out... Let me know what you think...
Thank You Jim (815) 482-8926 |
I remember that boat coming up to the Chartroom in Racine in the mid 80's, and also a guy named crazy george who had a 27SS . My dad had a 24 Pantera back then and we use to run next to them when they came up
|
I drive past this boat every couple days, everytime I do I look just hoping it has been pulled out. One day I need to stop by your house Jim, I talked to Tim over the summer and he told me feel free to stop by
