Cigarette Insurance

Progressive raised my Insurance to $1666 on my 1994 Cigarette TOP GUN. Value is around $100,000 replacement. I'm curious on what other Cigarette TOP GUN owners are paying and who are they with. I'm in Fresh water in Texas.

DollaBill 06-03-2010 03:25 PM

wow insurance has dropped. I was paying close to 10K on my 42 in Ft. Lauderdale

lucky strike 06-03-2010 03:37 PM

I was paying $3800 on a 2000 38 t/s 4 years ago.
After the big hurricane 3 or 4 years ago here in Fl it doubled.
I have a perfect driving record & no boat claims ever.

Ya think they didn’t know Captain courageous was conquering all of SoFlo one blue Martini at a time. Hell my insurance went down when you left!

Come back, for awhile anyway. The biggest Offshore Party of the year is June 10th-13th right across from what was THunderBoat Row!

What was it before? We have progressive. I didn't notice a rate hike.

Yes, it was Progressive that went up on me in Texas. I called them and they said it was approved by the state that they could raise their rates. I think they are full of :poopoo:! I have an older boat that is worth less every year, perfect driving record, I"m 40 years old and not a KID, and they went up on my rate. Anyway, I need more input. So far, Total Dollar is winning.

cigrocket 06-04-2010 07:31 AM

Stacy at wakezone has mine, and she got me a rate with equal coverage and saved me $650.00 a year. Its a '93 Top Gun with Chief Blower Motors. I did need to get a survey.

That's really not too bad at all in my opinion. I pay about double that on my '95 Cafe through Progressive - but I'm in FL.

cigrocket 06-04-2010 07:38 AM

I have to agree 1666.00 a year is pretty good for the age, the declared value and remember there is always the replacement cost factor.

OldSchool 06-04-2010 07:49 AM

I pay $892/year on my '88 TopGun (twin 800's) with $80K agreed value.....but there are three boats on the policy. The other two are a 1979 13' Whaler ($102/year) and a 2004 19' Pro-Line ($118/year).

Who Insures your boat?

seafordguy 06-04-2010 08:09 AM

I pay right at about 1k per year on my Cafe. After market 600HP blower motors.

I am under 30, never had a ticket/accident/claim. On the flip side this is the first boat I have ever insured, and my previous boat ownership was "zero". Nothing else on the policy - layup during the VA winter.
