Mistress Value
I'm moving and will have a LONG tow to my new home, so I gotta ask:
How much would y'all think a 1985 Mistress would be worth? Solid hull, no rot, 0 hour 468's (forged crank, eagle rods, forged pistons, merlin heads), rebuilt gimbals, TRS drives not rebuilt but in good shape, hynautic steering, 71C's, Stainless Marine exhaust. Needs cockpit interior. It's in process of being final assembled now after rebuilds/upgrades. I love this boat but it may not be worth a few thou to tow it. I was thinking low-mid 20's. Thanks, Randy |
I think you are correct. Somewhere in the 20's depending on over all condition. Great boats!! I would keep it!!!

I hope I get to! Gotta put all option on the table. :( Thank you, Randy

One of the guys on here had a comparable situation a year or so ago with a nicely updated boat and i think he was having a hard time offing it in the low 20's

Thanks for the input guys. It's a moot point now, she's now officially a keeper.......:grinser010:
Plan to get it in the water in the fall. Randy |

Thanks! Can't wait to splash it. Made some progress on the engines last night. Today they should be off engine stands so I can get trannies mounted up and do final plumbing.
Thanks to KE for getting me a couple new coolers out to the house so quickly. Going to have a wrecker come by the house with a telescoping boom to hoist them in. |
Bilge paint looks great .... what did you use to clean it up, prep it, what kind of paint, and did you spray or brush ? Most people are going with white, but I'm still a fan of the old school red.

Thanks actually it was a pretty quick and dirty job.
I used Simple Green in a spray bottle and a little bit of water to keep the concentration high. That cut most of the grease. Then I went over it again with Dawn and an abrasive sponge (Lowes has them with a handle glued on to keep the knuckles safer). After that dried, I went over the whole thing with 120 grit on a palm sander just to give a bit of bite. Lastly, 2 brushed coats of Rustoleum from Lowe's. I didn't want to undress the whole engine compartment so I only painted the bottom part within the confines of the stringers. The rest of it I just washed down and the original color cleaned up OK. Here is a before pic. I found enough hardware down there to build a 3rd engine. :-) Randy |
BustedBrick, Where are you moving to? We used to run one on Lake Erie.. That boat was at its home in the rough water there... May be old but, the ride was Awsome!! As for how much its worth, I say 5k..... and I will take it :)

How quickly things change. We're going to stay put. Thanks for the offer though. If you could guarantee me free unlimited rides, I might take it.

I dropped mine in with a 350 dollar Gantry Crane that I bought from Harbor Freight. With the Trolley, and Chain hoist I was out the door for under 500 bucks.....
