Okay after much consideration and feed back from this thread I have made my decision. I am going with a naturally aspirated set up from Bob at Marine Kinetics (aka rmbuilder). A set of oval port AFR cnc'd heads custome ground cams and lifters and new carbs. We are shooting for around 625hp. My new question is what should I expect to pay to remove and replace the engines. I am wondering the true cost of pulling them out and rerigging later? Maybe I will just disconnect everyhting and have them pull the motors????

The local marina to us charges 10 hours each engine. Having done it once myself, I think that is VERY excessive for "professionals". I spent about 500 bucks at harbor freight for a gantry crane, trolley and chain hoist and did it in my front yard....

Chain Fall off a 2" thick I-Beam runs across the width of my shop with a 1K chain fall and air tools. Pulled the engine in mine in about 2 hours lolly gagin around. 4150 you need somethign let me know

Agreed - I think that after you do it once or twice you could do both of them in a couple hours....

The engine hatch is heavy as ****...

I tie my engine hatch up with a couple ropes to a beam behind the boat and the chainfall beam give the hatch about a 20 degree lean back so i can just pull it. Then I back my truck up and let the hatch close and pull the whole rig forward and drop the engine easy as taking a wiz.

Hey frank vic here just going to give u my 2cents,I would go n/a all the way,again I have seen problems with supercharging ect,for the power u want I would go 540 withe dart pro1 heads,cosed cooling good exhaust and u will have a reaiable set up mine dinod at 600 plus they run alittle cool but 3years no prob they do need super though gd luck with it

He solved the problem - sold the Cafe and bought a badass Tiger....
