39' Cigarette Top Gun with Arnesons!

Just got the sea trial report on this conversion. "The boat runs amazing and maneuverability is i think better than the bravo drives" "I haven't tried max yet, but the acceleration @ 3000 is amazing , planing is so good much faster than before"

Another 100 + MPH Cigarette! :D

UrbanDisturbance 08-18-2010 01:07 PM

Sweet....This is making me sick to my stomach. I'll get them Arneson's one day on my 1994 Cig TOP GUN.:Score-101010:
Maybe I can finance it.

Why are some of the pix with out the swim platform? Must have been taken on different days. Where is this boat going?

They can drop it off at my house!:lolhit:

Rik 08-18-2010 01:39 PM

It is in Turkey. Different progress I would guess. I'd hate to think they took it off to take photos for me :D

600sci boat Rik??

dkwestern 08-18-2010 04:47 PM

Do 39's have a notched transom? This one looks like a full v without a notch.

This one did also. They filled it in:eek: They absolutely did not have to do this. All they would have needed to do is add a 1" spacer to the bottom of the notch to put the drives at the correct height but they took it a bit farther than I advised.

Dam n those water pickups look low!

Sweet rig.

rlj676 08-18-2010 06:10 PM

Do you know before/after speeds, and just as importantly fuel consumption?

Beautiful boat, and love the drives!

Yea, they are fighting the water pressure of 45-50 psi. I try to explain these things but "lost in translation" is more than a movie.

Before the boat as naturally aspirated 525's and they had Bravo issues. The owner wanted more speed as he had read the 700 package that Cig was building produced 100 mph so he wanted something similar but no Bravo's.

With 525's and 32P labbed Maximus it reached 85 mph @ 5200 rpm. It ran 84 mph with a 32P Bravo One at 5,400.

Prior to blowing off the water hoses the boat hit 104 with more to go. Owner is really happy and will be more so when he gets the water pressure under control.

How much horsepower are the whipple modified 525s.

Rik is it the same conversion for speed masters as it is for bravo's and trs.
thanks Dean

Dam, I better get in line before you run out of these things...

Cool.

Any estimates on what the gain is w/ just the drives, both in speed and fuel savings? Too bad he didn't do this in stages to see the results more clearly.

?? Honestly, the boats typically pick up 10+ in the mid range and 10+ on the top end. The customer wanted the blowers as it looks like the new 39' Top Guns but has Arnesons instead of NXT's.

Fuel?

Yep, same kit for all. TRS conversions allow the engine to come rearward like it would for a Bravo install.

Fuel?

Yeah fuel.... If you're picking up speed it's increasing efficiency so your consumption at the same cruising speed decreases (or am I missing what you meant)? Increased efficiency will become more important as gas goes back to the $5 mark around here, or even more in Turkey and Europe! I would assume this guy saw that as another gain from the drive, with gas at $10 a gallon or whatever on the water there.

Absolutely, as the speed increases the fuel mieage increases accordingly. If one goes 10 more miles in one hour at the same rpm, then it also increases the fuel mileage.

It was just with this boat the engines were changed at the same time (added a Whipple) so there is no accurately way to determine this.

Allicat38 08-22-2010 08:50 AM

Can these replace any bravo. would they work on a mystique.

CAFormula1 08-22-2010 05:49 PM

Rik, What props is he running?

Yes, the kits work on any I/O or new construction. One does not need a Bravo to install the #7M Kit.

The drives will work on a 35' or 36' Cigarette also.

Kevin, I supplied him with a set if 17.25X 30" Herings for this boat.

DirtyMoney 08-25-2014 10:36 PM

Nice find and pretty informative. Don't know how I missed this thread four years ago.

The boat was imported to the US last year? It sold to a guy in California I heard.

DirtyMoney 08-26-2014 01:18 PM

Speeds?

Drake22.250 08-26-2014 02:19 PM

I'm shocked it sold, called Oscar many times to schedule times to go to Florida to inspect it. POS wouldn't return calls or Answer emails. Cool set up.

Apparently it's at Cobra Power the engines are out and are redoing the water pickups and rigging. ??

No way will it run 135 with just Whipples on 525's. It would take 1350's to hit 135.

soggy bottom 12-16-2014 04:47 PM

With those Sterling valve covers and big tube headers, they sure don't look like 525s.

UrbanDisturbance 12-16-2014 07:55 PM

135mph. Maybe if the boat had whipple quad rotors and over 1100hp each side. I did not see horsepower rating on the add. Maybe I missed it. Those blowers looked small to me. Maybe it has Nitrous! Just what we all need. Boom! $$$$$. 5 digit fix.
