Gladiator cabin???
I sold my Top Gun recently and I think my next Ciggie will be a Gladiator. The only negative is the lack of a cabin. I don't have a need for a full cabin but having a place to crash for the night would be nice.
Has anyone finished an area under the deck for overnighting, similar to what someone did on Donzi.net with their Classic 22 2+3 ? Thanks, Kurt |
Wow cant believe you sold the gun Kurt!! You will love the Gladiator if you get one!!
|
I don't think it can be done. There is plenty of room, but access from the cockpit would be impossible.

I don't see why it isn't possible IF you plan on accessing the 'cabin' through the hatch on the deck.
through the floor area in a Glad would be awful tight. 22 Donzi's are open in the middle so it makes access possible... with the center console in the Glad I think the only manageable way will be through the hatch |

I'm pretty sure that can be done.

Gladiator
Man this was the same issue I had and is why I didn't buy one. If you do find out a way I will surely consider the Gladiator again. I really think that is the King of the Cigarettes for the size. Thanks Speed

Its not so much the access as the head room with the sit down boats. I know with the Donzi Comp's they made one with a 1/4 cabin so to speak. It had a couple of facing love seats and a zippered access to the front bow area. You have to access through the deck hatch and I am not really sure if there is enough head room to even sit comfortably. I left mine unfinished but mounted a porta-potti under the one hatch for emergencies. Even sitting on that, you have to leave the hatch up so you have head room!:grinser010:

My intention was for access through the hatch. Does anyone have pics of what it looks like down there? Possibly a sleeping area between the bulkheads?
Thanks, Kurt |

Kurt,
Some are painted white, but most look like that.. CIG #1 Joe:drink: |
You could pay for a lot of hotel rooms for what it will cost to have that done! :drink:
With the freeboard already being lower, it would be too cramped down there for an average sized adult to be worth it in the end, I would think? That, and you could risk having the CG of the boat being shifted far enough forward, that it might cause the boat to have bow steer issues. By the time you built the structure over the stringers for a bed down there to comfortably support ONE adult, much less two, you may have added another 500+ pounds worth of material once it's finished? Having bow steer would be NOOO bueno on a stepped boat. |
