Flat Deck Bolsters
I was working away on my 1985 Flat Deck and as I was working around the dash I had occassion to sit my butt down on the bolster and noticed I couldn't see over the the fairing in the seated position. It dosen't help that I'm only 5' 8". Has any one else had this dilemma if so what did you do short of standing all the time. I am thinking of raising the whole bolster any thoughts?
Thanks Rick G. |

Have a custom cushion made that gets you to the right hieght. Lay it in the seat when you want to set down.
I had one made once for a searay to lean against because I like to run a boat standing up. |
Phragle good idea I will just wrap one in fiberglass so it won't rot. I think I am going to see if I can make a seat base extension reposition the whole bolster up about 6". Even thought my Scarab was a bigger boat I could see over the wind screen when seated I would like that option in the Cig. Any other ideas are welcome.

I have the same problem Im 6 foot it is what it is. You rase the seats up it will look out of place. Post pics of your boat.

I always stand, but the wife likes to sit. I had a booster seat made for her. I just stacked up some towels until the contours were right, and had the upholstery guy take some measurements. $80 later and $110 for an aluminum folding foot rest, the wife is happy.

Thanks US MUSL. That was going to be my plan "B" . OSEN 007 next time I get out to the shop I will take some pictures. US's will work I'm sure, the only draw back is more things to find a place to store. Thanks for sll the great input. I will take some pictures and show you what I'm thinking.

I have solved the vertical Challenge, I am making a shorter fairing out of fiberglass. I am making it exactly like the original piece only with an overall height of 8 inches as opposed to 14 inches . It is higher in the middle than the sides . The boat did hit the water last year . Here are some pictures of the boat and the fairing in process. The next step is to mate the sides with the front piece and then finish it smooth for paint. I will post more pictures as I progress.
