Wow love it! I want to order a new boat.

BLee 10-21-2010 09:12 PM

I love red, & think that design is really cool, but it's so similar to so many other 39's that have already been built. I just think for the money you're spending, you should go for something more unique with the design & color combo's.

Just what I was going to say. It seems all the recent boats have been red with the same colors. It does look good though!!

He can do so much better. You know it is so easy for the designers to pull up a boat they painted already on the computer and just change a few things and submitt it to the prospective buyer. Its alot more work to design one from scratch. Back to the drawing board, I would say.

carter38 10-21-2010 11:58 PM

I love the reds but like stated above there are some out there already a brand new 39 make it something people won't forget. IMO!

Great feedback...thanks all. We did have designer compare graphics to those of others and made changes, clearly not enough.

Thanks again

TWIN-SPINS 10-22-2010 07:49 AM

some more orange and yellow color would set all that red off and tie it in nicely:drink:

First impression was too red. Needs other colors such as blue.

ktron 10-22-2010 08:12 AM

I would also add a little white to the interior, It helps make everything pop more.

GREEK LIGHTNING 10-22-2010 08:15 AM

Agree with BLee, so many boats have that look. I like the color combo, my favorite is red, black, white and silver or gray depending on tones. These boats are so expensive that I think you should have something more unique. When I built my boats I really took my time and picked designs that were a little different. Good luck and keep us posted.

Those are my favorites as well, and they're the "classic" colors that Cigarette has been known for since the logo was created.

You can't go wrong using red, white, silver, & black, in your paint design. You can make it look aggressive, classy, or all around sharp, depending on the artist you've decided on's talent, & the input YOU put in.

It's easy to use someone elses design & have them change a line or two before spraying it on, but you'll get tired of it, & wish you'd done something unique.

Take your time with the paint design too, it IS the most important paint of the boats' identity. :drink:

BLee 10-23-2010 01:06 AM

If you end up going with the paint you currently have selected, it COULD look too much like this one that tossed those guys in Bulgaria, & ran onto the rocks afterward, to not have THAT story being mistaken for your boat http://smiliesftw.com/x/hsugh.gif

I definitely wouldn't want THAT story being asked to me about my new boat

twin screws 10-23-2010 08:30 AM

Has anyone noticed how most all boats that come out of Cigarette now are red or blue? I love both colors, but I'm with Greek Lightning I would like to see something different. Also I don't like having to cover the interior with towels when out on the water. When I ordered my Cig I put dark accent colors in the interior, will not make that mistake again. Give me a call Greek, I still love ya.

I think it looks good, but as stated is pretty similar to some other recent very red boats. They all do look good though.

I personally think doing the "middle red" section in silver/gray (maybe carbon fiber effect?) would make it stand out a lot.

Either way I'm jealous.:drink:

Dave is a great guy to work with, let him know your ideas. His execution is incredible!

Ona-Mission 10-24-2010 08:33 PM

First of all. Do it if you like. I love red and silver. Just and idea. Reverse the colors and make it red on silver, rather than silver on red. And don't change the interior.

Tom A. 10-25-2010 11:02 AM

I love the monochrome look but agree it needs a little more. I wouldn't necessarily add another color. Too many of the mid 2000's looked like Easter eggs or McDonald's boats. More silver and black will make it pop.
Also, the dark colors on the deck get awfully hot on the feet!

As for all the blue and red boats, I think that was a direct response to all the bright yellow and multi-color boats of the earlier 2000's. For a few years, it seemed like all the Outelimits and big cats had to be yellow.

First of all, thanks for all the great comments and suggestions. Think we have the graphics down now on to the interior.

Heading to the Fort Lauderdale show Saturday to meet with Cigarette and accessorize.

pm203 10-25-2010 08:04 PM

That's great. Remember, you are the check writer, so forget all the opinions and go with what YOU like.

twin screws 10-26-2010 09:23 AM

It could be pink and I would be jelous. Best of luck and congrats.

Good luck!

If you want ANY opinion at all on the interior, "less is better", if you ask me!

I always like boats that have a white, or possibly silver "base/overall color" for their interior, then some subtle colored piping & embroidery to finish it off.

So many paintjobs are ruined in my opinion, when the interior is overwhelmed with too many colors & patterns.

I'm headed down to the boat show sometime Wednesday morning, so maybe I'll run into you at the Cigarette booth. Have a great weekend either way! :ernaehrung004:

39 Unlimited 10-26-2010 04:47 PM

"less is better", great advice BLee. Definitely going with a silver carbon fiber base and piping, only question is how much charcoal and red accent.

Hope to see ya Saturday afternoon at the booth.
