'77 28SS bolsters?
 

My buddy is restoring a '77 28SS and his bolsters are in poor shape. The aluminum stantions have a bunch of holes drilled in them and the wood is rotten...

Anyone know where to source stuff like that?...he (and I) want to keep it very correct and original.

Can't you just have a machine shop make you a new frame or fix the old one?

Wow, that boat looks just like mine, I see you have a 27 Magnum too..
We need to talk, I would like to see more pictures of your boat. Mine was made in 79, bedge with blue sides and I too am in to a partial restoration.

I can't help much with the aluminum bases but cig probably bought stock aluminum and bent it in a jig or sourced it to a local shop in so fla. Seems like they used that stuff for a very long time. You might have to ask Brownie about that.

As far as the seats, I re did mine and it was pretty easy. If you have a jigsaw and a screw gun you can do it. I carefully removed all the staples, vinyl and foam, then made an exact replica of the wood inside, screwed it all together, coated everything with a couple coats of epoxy, and sent them to the upholstry shop. I have some pictures I can post but they're on my other computer. I'm glad you're keeping it stock looking and not putting carbon fiber tribal flames all over it.

Looks very simular, mine is a 79/80, dark blue where yours is red, and mine came with stripes that go from the bow and then across the engine hatch. My exhaust risers were changed by the previous owner to come streight out the back, the boat now has 4 exhaust tips just above the rub rail. Give me your e-mail address and I will forward a picture. what engines do you have? Mine has twin 425/450hp 454's

Happy New Year to you
I would think that back them Bilt-Rite in Miami was doing the Bolsters
Bilt-Rite did the Magnum interiors. They have since sold the business and the new people moved it up north,, but not sure if they are doing interiors any more?
You may be better off instead of wood, use a composite material to make the bolster part.

You are from my old neighborhood. I was born and raised in the bay area, last in California, last lived in San Ramon. My 28 Magnum Sedan was a bay area boat!
