Call Brownie at Stainless Marine. He will set you up. I agree with you on the quality as well.

Stormrider 12-22-2010 08:33 AM

You'll need to have them shipped in, so whats the difference if they are from the Midwest or Southeast?
I would post this in the General Forum.
Maybe try someone on this page: http://www.offshoreonly.com/links/browselinks.php?c=9

And Kirk is always claiming he can get good pricing.

Your right it realy doesn't make a difference, just trying to get the best deal as money is alittle tight, thnks for the info

575cat 12-22-2010 08:41 AM

I believe CP has the cheepest price, are you thinking the gen 3 manifolds? I am going the gen 3 route. good luck. talk to scott at speed & custom marine , he will tell some good stories on tube headers, short lived. Also talk to jerry at stainless marine ,great guy

park35 12-22-2010 08:55 AM

I have seen new cmi from the factory leak like you wouldn't belive. I have 540s in a 35 cafe that I just bought when I did the pressure test on the cmi it looked like a sprinkler thnks for the info

Vic
I can't believe those thing were leaking so bad. You are right I hear nothing but bad stories on CMI's. Scary thing is the Tiger I bought has them as well. I guess I will be taking them off and pressure testing. Can they be fixed? Email me a pic of the motors in the boat ([email protected]) and I will post the pic here for you. 82mph impressive wait til you get the props dailed in, I guess it is time for some 28's.

Frank if you need yours pressue tested and fix we'll help you out. We've done about everyones in our area. My buddy has been running a set of Stainless Marine on his motor for 10 years and they're great!!

park35 12-22-2010 10:59 AM

Hey Vic, This is Frank, did not take you long to get comfortable on the Cig forum..........Only 82 mph, i hope you like the looking at my transom all summer....Lol.

I went down to the marina, the old Fountain cover fits good.
I assume you are talking about my new set of CMI headers that leaked........
Sorry i missed your xmas party. i heard it was good.
Say hello to Joyce for me...

PARADISE ISLAND 12-23-2010 02:04 AM

Try CP performnce.

park35 12-23-2010 08:42 AM

Hey frank yes ur set that leaked, one of many that I know of,ur transom is the only one I will see lol everyone else will see mine and u know who I am talking about lol,I am counting the weeks can't wait we will get together after the holidays hope u and gina have a grt x mas

Redmen666 12-23-2010 09:48 AM

Vic, The Sonic boys will not be happy about your new boat.

Any information on the performance of the stainless marine exhaust vs. the CMI headers ??? any lack of H.P. ???
How much do they cost a set?

park35 12-23-2010 11:52 AM

Hey frank, the sonic boys need to up grade to more power lol was on the phone Monday. And ssm said they have done tests against headers with little to no diff in my power range little meaning 15 or less, for you the diff is less something about blower motors and scavanging to me there product seems the best way to go,the 24 superboat has been the only one with no exhaust problems in our marina

park35 12-23-2010 12:21 PM

Also if u look at a header the opening at the flange is round, bbc heads have a square opening,my opinion it can't be a grt match upfor top flow numbers

seafordguy 12-23-2010 12:25 PM

Hey Park - there was a thread recently in the General Discussion forum about CMI's and one of the options was to send them back and get them fixed - it was suprisingly cheap. That would be my plan.

park35 12-23-2010 12:31 PM

Thnks for the info, but I think I am going the ssm route, you ar right they can be fixed, but prob sooner then later they will leak from what I have heard

Redmen666 12-23-2010 01:11 PM

Vic, good theory on the shape of the headers and the BBC heads. Our friend with the Superboat is beyond fanatical. He does not leave the boat in ever.............How much for the SSM exhaust???

park35 12-23-2010 01:53 PM

The best I could do is 2400 longriser kit dumps water at the end or dry kit is 2600 with a 5yr warr not bad

Redmen666 12-23-2010 03:51 PM

That is much better than $5k a set from CMI, they blow.

Go Direct to Stainless Marine. Get Gen 3's. I picked up Power over the Sprinkler systems. Paint the Gen 3s to match your engines.

Looks good. Notice any speed/power loss vs. headers?

park35 12-23-2010 07:24 PM

Frank got some x mas shopping 2 do but tell the sonic brothers ,unless ur in an outerlimits or a cig next summer the view will be the same as the second dog on a sled team .....lol

eightsecmopar 12-25-2010 03:12 PM

Who did you get the best price from, I might be in the market also. Thanks

park35 12-27-2010 06:29 AM

Diamond proformance is the best so far

Zero Patience 12-27-2010 06:39 AM

I picked up 200-300 rpm over the CMI Etops. Same load, better yet, no worries. If you paint them, leave the black around the port flanges, as the heat will discolor the paint slightly. I went from 4" tails to 5", dry to the rear with stelling style dumps. Mine are 4 years old now. It is also much easier to work on things as the tails can now be slid back thru the transom out of the way.
