31 vs 33 Cigarette CC
So lately i have been leaning towards a CC for my particular use. Just looking to cruise and escort friends. Fish from time to time also.
Was wornderig if there was major differences in the hull of the 31 and the 33 CC. I have read that the 33 mold was leased from oceanhawk ,but are there any real differences in the design or is it just 2 ft longer version of the same mold. do the bot he have same beam? If the 31 is the same as the bullet i would expect it to be pretty heavy boat with a nice ride but may not get the performance numbers i'm looking for with twins. Ultimatly i would like to be at 70+ but anywhere close would be good. Any info on This 31? I don't think it will hit 70mph with only 600hp but if they would be neg on price it might be worth it. http://www.boattrader.com/listing/19...tfish-94528820 Thanks |
from what i was told, the 33 was laid up by ocean hawk to cigarette's lamination schedule. the hull and deck were then sent to cigarette for rigging/completion.
i beleive both boats are 8'6" beam... the 31 shares the hull with the Bullet. not too sure which would end up faster with the same power, but my biased opinion would be the 33. in terms of ride, the 33 is heavy enough to offer a VERY solid ride. sorry i dont have any info on the decathlon you posted. I've seen it for sale before... resale would be better on the 33 as they are newer. i've seen the decathlon go as cheap as 20k. |
thanks Sean
I have also noticed the price change from the 33 to the 31. Most of the oceanhawks are out of my price range at this point. Any ideas on weight of 31 vs 33? Other opinion of speed with equal power? |
The decathlon is based on the bullet hull but with a wider beem. If I'm not mistaken it has a 9 or 10 ft beem. The 33 will be faster with equal power. The 33 is a solid ride but the 31 is a better rough running boat. Hope that helps a bit.

I wouldn't mind getting ahold of a 31' Decathlon to use as a fishing boat. That would be cool!

A guy I know has his decathlon on ebay powered by Evinrude E-Tech's.

I'm not sure its on ebay yet unless i'm missing it. Thanks for the info.
No body familiar with http://www.boattrader.com/listing/19...tfish-94528820 |
Do you think you could get a 33 to go over 70 with twin 300. Maybe if i could buy one sin motors i could swing some 350's but that would take some time to get the $$ together.

nice boat. Stand up bolsters. fun for rough water but no one wants to stand all the time.
I'm really not buying yet just collecting info. Need to get a few more duck in a row. Thanks |

also, the 33 has a much bigger cabin. full v berth with oposing lounges aft. vacuflush head to starboard and sink aft of that. |
I'm pretty sure that it's a beam of 8'6" on the Bullet.

8.2 beam, with 215 gallon fuel set up wet operating weight with 2 cycle Opty"s 9,000pds. 62-64MPH all out max speed with 300 twins. Great rough water boat I own one and I live in San Juan Puerto Rico, for us down here 3-5 is average normal day out at sea. Very Very Very practical comfortable solid boat. There are numerous post on it on this forum. Only 22 were made from 1997-2002 with CRT serial# and last 10-12 were laminated and rigged at cigarette.
Mine has a pair of 225 Opty's 53-55 MPH/21 Mirrage, Twin 300 XS'S by summer! |
Ocean Hawk, Cig 33 same hull, 8 foot beam. Back in production as the Ocean Hawk 33 and they can only be built one way since it is a very close tolerance 3 piece boat
