gas tanks '86 Cafe Racer

I was told when I purhased my boat that it had (2) 100 gallon gas tanks. One for each motor. Everytime I have filled the starboard tank, the port port only takes a few gallons of gas. Are these 2 tanks connected in some way? Thanks for your help.

On my 87 the are by them self. If you open the hatch just look at the way its plumbed that will tell you or just shoot a pic

If I am not mistaken, I think there is a 2.5 inch hose that is exposed under the rear bench where the gas gauge sending units are. That could be what is making the gas flow from one tank to the other. I will check on that.

There is a crossover. Call and I can explain. Chris.

Mine are isolated. When I fill up it is usually within about $5 or so of being the same for each side.

I wish they were connected, as its a pain to have to switch sides at the station.

Strange. I don't believe mine are connected in any way, but I have had two instances where I filled one up with 30 or 40 gallons, but only got a fraction of that in the other side. I always assumed I just got some air/fuel trapped in the vent somehow and it blew out the vent.

Did they change it after a certain year? Mine is a 91 & i do not think they are connected.

I didnt see anythign on my 87 under the seat of in the bilge maybe I missed it but the boat is completely apart and i think it would be hard to miss a cross over hose. does anyone have a picture of what it would look like? I will be dropping the engines in next weekend so I can look if need be

gas tank

I am going to try to take a picture of mine over the weekend. I have filled my starboard tank with 60 gallons before( topping off) and go to fill the port mortor and it would only take 7 gallons with fuel coming out of the vent. I will have a pic coming soon. Just wondering if anyone else was running into this.
