Cigarette Mistress ?

Ok I have been looking around and tossing up maybe a cafe racer or the mistress.. What years did they start making the mistress with no window, Is 70-80mph top speeds? Anyone have a pdf from factory on the boats ?

jbraun2828 07-12-2011 10:44 AM

Gonna need some big power to do 80 in a cafe or older mistress

Sick Stinger 07-12-2011 11:01 AM

Mine will run 80\81 with 650 a side

My Cafe' will run right at 70 with 500's.

And, it's for sale...... :coolcowboy:

seafordguy 07-12-2011 05:36 PM

No doubt the Mistresses are old school cool, but the Cafe's are a MUCH "newer" feeling boat than the Mistresses, especially the newer cabin style that came in ~ 1990.

I have the Owner's Manual PDF for a cafe if you want it shoot me an email eric.ancarrow( at )ferguson.com

jbraun2828 07-12-2011 08:36 PM

The Cafe's must be faster bottoms than the bullets. I only see 73-74 with 550 a side.
Sea-Dated, can't believe your boat hasn't sold.

Have Brett lab some props for you. You should see 3-4 mph increase. My buddy had a 92 Bullet with 575hp per side the boat hit a high of 82 but ran all the time 79-80. The speed is there you just need to finesse it out. Sea Dated I tell everyone I know to buy your boat. My vote is for the Cafe hands down over the Mistress, here is why newer time less style and better resale. Not to mention I just love the deck lines of the Cafe it is still my favorite looking Cig and the ride in rough water is unbelievable and not to far off from my Tiger .

Mike,

Couple of quick questions. :)

Is this Bravo outdrive boat?
What RMP are you turning?
What size props?
What kind of exhaust?

Thanks!
Bob

My Cafe with 550 hp per side CMI exhaust Bravos and BBlades 26 labbed props gave me a best of 78.3mph but I could touch76-77 mph everytime I was out as long as I had a little chop out there to work with. My Cafe loved trim, just watch your mph keep trimming til lose speed then tuck em in a hair. Although the boat ran loose trimmed like that so hold on and be careful, but hte boat was a lot of fun and through evrything I ever through at it.

You sit & stand much deeper in the cafe.
More free board.
I have had both & the cafe gives you a much more secure feeling when in the boat for you & your passengers.

Here are some pics of my cabin. Mine is a 91 so it has the newer style cabin.

The three cushions around the couch fold down to make the bed in the bow when needed.

Here is the Old style cabin.

I love the new style, but my poor brother is so tired of sleeping in the cockpit - would be nice in a lot of ways to have the couches. BUT - I wouldn't trade it for the old style....

BiLLyLaurianO 07-19-2011 12:52 PM

which years did they change cabin , seems like the old style has more room . how many seats or below..

How much does the cafe weight with trailer ??
Wondering if my c3500 crew will yank it

It seems like there was some overlap as to when they changed. I have an '89 with the older style.

Seafordguy's pic is a little misleading as far as room goes. The side benches are bigger than they look in that picture.

The dry weight from the '87 manual I have lists the weight at 9000 lbs.

I actually pull mine up the ramp and around the marina with a Chevy 1500 4x4. But I have electric over hydraulic brakes which allows me to stop, plus I think I'm a little light on tongue weight. If I am going any distance I borrow a friends crew cab 3500 and you can hardly tell its back there.

Sick Stinger 07-19-2011 02:25 PM

I pull my cafe with Cummins 2500 single wheel. I have a dual axel disk with a 3rd rolling axel. Seem fine. I towed it with a 1 tonf powerstroke with no brakes on trailer no issue but not recomened as I only went 35 miles.
-Mike
P.S. Pics of boat or the cabin?

In general - during the 1990 model year, but be aware there are some that got stamped 1990 that might have the older cabin.

My Cafe Manual says 9600 Dry - remember that is before swim platform, blowers, external hydraulic steering, tie bars, spare props, etc..... Full weight on my Aluminum Trailer I think is about 14k - possibly more. 1200 lbs of fuel, 2500 lbs trailer, etc....

I tow mine with an F350 Dually.
