1995 38 TG Cabin Door & Anchor

I just purchased a 1995 Cig 38 TG. The only thing of concern so far, which is very minor, but irritating when in rough water, is the cabin door banging around. I feel like it sounds if I'm in a Baja...no offense Baja guys but every Baja I've ever been in bangs around consistently. Does anybody have any experience or a known way of severely minimizing this loud bang and rattle of the cabin door, other than the obvious remedy of removing the door?

Also, what is the best anchor to use with the 38 Cig Top Gun? Thanks for the help. :drink:

I'm not exactly sure what the door is like on a 95, but often times you can use some adhesive backed weather stripping to make it a tighter fit when closed and it won't rattle. This also works on hatches as well. I'll look in the classifieds to see what the door looks like on a 95.

Anchor wise, generally it has more to do with use the proper amount of scope on the line. I have as good of luck with my 10lb round anchor as I do with my my large Guardian "danforth" style Anchor that has 6' of chain on it. One thing I have noticed is that if you tie off of your bow eye rather than the cleat on your deck they hold a lot better.

Best of luck with the new ride and we will keep an eye out for you the next couple of weeks.

Does your door open and close easy and smoothly? If not, the rollers may just be wore out and needing replaced. I understand that replacing them also tightens things up a bit. I hope so, because I'm fixing my door this winter.

My original anchor got tired and decided to stay on the bottom, but only after holding a line of about ten boats. I wanted a direct replacement so that I could reuse the hold-down kit under the seat. Phil directed me to the model and I found it online at the manufacturers website.

Is your cabin door latch in good shape and holding the door in place? You may need a new one possibly....

Yeah are you talking about it rattling/banging when open or closed? If it's when open then it might be what Frequency or Tank said, if it's when it's closed then it's probably weatherstripping/gasket, which you can also get from Phil http://www.lipship.com/parts/view/54

Replace the rollers, that should take care of the problem.

Guys, door opens and closes easily. I'm going to try and tighten everything up first and see where that takes me. I might need to replace some of stripping I'm sure. It rattles/bangs around when open and closed.

I'll definitely check out the recommended anchors too. Thanks again. I'm excited to be a Cig owner, and appreciate all the input.
