That's awesome. I am sick and tired of pulling up my 50 lbs anchor with chain. Must be an older boat owner like me. They are wise!! I wonder who did that and where you get that setup?

Although Im not a fan of the way this looks, I love the idea. I hate anchors..theyre too big, too heavy, and oddly shaped! They dont fit easily anywhere. Pain in the arse !:lolhit:

Also, you could put 4 woofers in the anchor compartment.:drink: I will have to put this on my to do list after I get my Arneson ASD7Ms installed!!!!

They are available at Overton's and West Marine now. I've used one for 10 years and they defiantely MUCH easier to work with than a traditional Danforth or similar.

That said, I believe Nor-Tech has made a couple of custom anchors that actually match the shape of the bow of a few boats, and retract right up into the hull above the bow eye. All it takes is money. :D

I'm sure its pretty convenient but I couldn't imagine messing up the lines of a Cig with that thing mounted out there on the bow.

How well does that anchor hold on a boat the size and weight of a 42 tiger?

I hate carrying an anchor all the way to the front espescially in rough water and the anchor setup on the Tiger above looks great. My only concern is that it will look terrible mounted on the front. Are there any other pictures of this Tiger from the side?

It's listed on yacht world but didn't see any good side shots. It's for sale in Europe.

I use the Large Box Anchor and have done so for years. I've held as many as six boats before in a strong current before someone had time to get another anchor out.

The best part about the Box Anchor is you don't have to "set" it. Just un-collapse it where you un-pack it, maybe on the back seat, sunpad, or swim platform, and drop it overboard. Then take 1/2 the rode with you up to the bow and tie off. Reel yourself back into the anchor a bit if you want to.

Second best thing about the Box Anchor is that you don't have to use a chain. While the Anchor iteself is a bit heavier than another style, the lack of chain ends up balancing out the equation.

The only time I could not set my Box Anchor was in a cove with very, very thick spongy Hydrilla seaweed which was about 3 feet thick on the bottom. NO one could get ANY anchor set that day; and that was only once in 10 years.
