I am looking at a 1978 28SS has 383's with TRS's.
How much power will it take per side to run Low to Mid 70's
Boat run's low to mid 60's now. Not sure of HP of the current motor's.

I would think atleast minimum 400hp per side.

I was told stout 383's with bravos and better x would be in low 80's.

I see you are getting the itch again.....that's good :drink:

My 1974 28SS ran 75 on GPS with 4 people and 3/4 fuel. I had built some 355ci and upgraded to Stainless Marine dry exhaust. The motors dynoed at around 425HP.

However, the TRS on that boat were mounted about an inch higher than other 28's I've seen, which probably helped. I also ran Hydromotive 3 blades when most boats had Mirage props.

Thanks for the info guys.

Yes Steve I am getting the Itch. I am buying Angala and Rere's boat to good of a deal to pass up and I have always loved the boat.
Trying to figure out what I need to do this Winter to be happier with the Boat. I will call you one day this week when I get off work.

I agree....it's a nice boat. I would keep your eye out for some better exhaust, dump it dry out the cap, and maybe consider raising the drives while you're sealing the transom holes???
