considering purchasing a 31 bullet
I am seriously considering purchasing a 89 31 cigarette bullet the price is right, and the boat is super clean. the only problem is I live on the chesapeake and the boat is in florida. The boat does not come with a trailer which is the biggest problem, does anyone know how much a trailer would usually run, I would prefer to find a nice used one but finding one could be hard... Also does anyone have any comments on that model, also has anyone ever traveled the intracoastal water way, I have kind of thought bringing it back that way....

Went from Mears Point Marina on Kent Island Md. to the west coast of Flordia....used the intercoastal the whole way, one boat trip I'll never forget.....it was great.......if anybody gets the chance to do it its somthing you will never forget.....alot of $ in fuel though.......i think the trailer would be cheaper way to go.....Joe

You could have it shipped up here with a carrier. Another option is to buy a trailer down there and get it under the boat. There are a lot of good trailer builders in Florida - I know it sounds expensive but I would consider just buying a NEW one so that it could get properly fit to the boat from the outset and you aren't screwing around with a used trailer once you get down there with everything else going on. |
i would think the cost of fuel to run it back would be almost as much as a good used trailer.

Is it the one with the blue and gold?

Depended what the right price is. Would a 35 cafe be better with a trailer also ask lil read as I know he has a 30+ trailer he may part with

OK, I'll chime in on the intracoastal. You will likely use 900 to 1200 gallons of fuel, depending on where in the Bay and where in FL. So you can punch in at least $3500 for that and 30+ hours of actual run time. The no wake zones are not that bad once you get out of FL, but I would count on 200-300 miles a day to not kill yourself. So that would be at least 4 days (I would count on 5). So if you add in dockage and food, that's another $500 if you stay on the boat.
It would be an unforgetable experience (One I would love to take) and nights would be comfortable sleeping on the boat this time of the year. Scenery is beautiful and you'll have stories to tell for years. However, keep in mind you will probably find any problems out (if there are any) with the boat on this "shake down" cruise. :) However, there are much cheaper ways to get it up here. My 2 cents. |
Get a survey done before buying! Bullet in my opinion is an awesome boat, great cabin layout, great riding.
If it is the blue and gold one you are looking at, I looked at this boat years ago before I bought mine and found it to be rough. Back then it was advertised locally by the owner, for I think $25k no trailer. Good luck |
It is listed on ebay and on the classifieds here, it is the white, with the blue and gold stripe it is listed for 39k on here and says it shows new, the price is much cheaper and in talks of trading my boston whaler as part of the deal, of coarse no money would change hands untill I see the boat but it does look pretty nice. As far as traveling the waterway, my dad wants to do it with me, we both have boated all our lives and are thinking of doing it to just say we are doing it. He says if I pay for fuel he will pay for dockage and any food hotels, but most likely will go with a trailer because I would prefer to keep it on a trailer anyways so might as well buy it now....

I have heard directly from someone who went to see the Blue and Gold Bullet and said it was not even close to the Ebay discription. He said intake manifolds were rotting away....Be careful.

That boat has been for sale a looooooong time. I would have an inspection and see it in person before handing them $1. Cheaper in the long run to pay more up front then to buy a problem and try to fix it.

there is a very very clean bullet for sale in MD if interested pm me i will call u

Thanks everyone, i wasn't going to give any money before I saw it in person, and I asked for a few more photos of certain areas and the owner will not supply them.... I may put a very low offer in, and if he takes it go from there on seeing the boat. I don't have a problem with projects, as long as you assume its a project and are paying project price... Thanks again

Sometimes the boat could be free, and still cost more to get it into the shape you want it, then buying one already to run. Takes big money to get a beat up boat back into good "Cigarette Shape" . Just my 2 Cents. I am sure others will chime in. Other good boats in the mix.
