Cig 20 on Craigslist

I thought long and hard about it, but I don't have the time to take on a project right now. Figured I would post it for you guys and maybe someone might give this a new life. It's not mine, nor I have i seen it in person.

Looks like a ton of work and $$$.

sunsation96 02-28-2012 03:26 PM

How much do you think you would have into this? I say 30k? Would be a great boat once done right.

rumrunner29 02-28-2012 03:39 PM

Yes, it does look like a lot of work, but it would be a nice ride once you were finished. You may get it done for 30k, but could be more depending on how you did it.

CigaretteSam 02-28-2012 05:20 PM

Buy it and send it to LipShip!

Hatch

Notice it is not the factory raised hatch. Someone added the box. Below is the hatch pic from my old 20 Cig.

Greatlaker 02-28-2012 07:26 PM

The Hatch Looks like the one on my 20 cigarette. O.C didn't I see your 20 for sale last fall? Its a nice looking boat

northernoffshore 02-28-2012 07:37 PM

no title for the boat, he bought some property and it was left there. serial number is questionable also.

TOASTY 02-28-2012 07:47 PM

what is involved in getting a title?

Depends on your state.

I called the guy just because I need a trailer. If i was to get an old 20 in the process... it's a plus.

The guy really seemed put out by asking the trailer lenght.

Whats questionable about the serial #?

northernoffshore 02-29-2012 12:14 AM

I asked him for the serial # (just the first letters)and he said he didn't have the time to check it even though he had drive by the boat 3 times that day. That's when I gave up . No title , no # ????????

Notice how the boat is sitting at least 2-3 feet off the back of the trailer? Who knows on the trailer length? And I wonder how long it's been sitting that way. Can you say major hook?

RebarBox 02-29-2012 09:42 AM

He returned my e-mail. The trailer is from back to ball - approx. 25'.

I need a trailer for a 28' boat, I'm out.

Yes, it went to a great home, the gentleman also has a 28 Cig and a 35 Cig Race.

Hotboat1 02-29-2012 08:04 PM

I have a lot of concerns about this one. Without verifying the VIN it could be a splash. The engine hatch does not look right. It states that it is a 1980 but it has pre '75 vents on the side. The mldg looks to be alum and is flat??? Also, an '80 with a Volvo drive???? What is the deal with the markings where the pedestals were---- An octagonal one on the drivers side and a round one on the passenger side? It has race car hood pins instead of the twist in latches from the Donzi/Cigarette era. Am I wrong here?

offshoredrillin 02-29-2012 08:47 PM

It's looks real from the pics, that hatch could be from any year and came on many of the 20's, the imp's that were splashed had a diff deck, 2 years ago there would have been a bidding war for this boat, im gonna save the info if he has it in a month or so I'll go buy it. there are some other things with the windshield recesses that were known to be cigarette.

X2, it sure looks real to me.....and looked at it for a long time before I posted it on here. I would love to have it, but I don't have the time for it right now.

Holy Smokes 02-29-2012 10:30 PM

I agree. It's legit. Several details of the deck and hull look exactly like my '74. Our hatches are different as I have what used to be the flat hatch, but someone along the way added a scoop. The fuel tank, the fuel sender access, the floorboard piece, the stringers, windscreen recess, mahogany stripe recess, etc. all scream "I'm for real!". As Hotboat mentioned on the forward storage hatch latches, mine are the same, hood pins.

Not sure what the huge hole behind the rear seat is for and the access hole on the port side is in a odd location.

ZP'd 03-01-2012 08:33 AM

Curious if a eggbeater or two could be hung off it without handling issues?

Pot of Gold 03-01-2012 09:13 AM

it sure would be a nice ride once it were finished.

I thought the same thing, I had the floorboard out of my old 20 to upgrade the fuel lines and it looked exactly the same. It looks like someone added the rear access hole. Maybe the owner was a proctologist?

I still don't think the raised part of the hatch is factory. Mine had teak round hole bezels in the front of the hatch.

I would agree and say probably a 73-75 hull. Mine had the old style hood pins and side vents as well. The Volvo was only used in the very first years with the the 350 small block. The raised hatch looks homemade ? Mine is one of the few I've seen not raised, no extra clearance needed for the small block.

Great project, wouldn't take much to complete and keep same power/drive setup. 60 mph is great for this size boat.

Very nice! Something cool about finding an old classic buried deep in a storage building. I need one of these!

WOW!! Very sharp boat.

Nothing better than seeing a clean, classic black boat with a Cig logo on the side.

Cig19 03-06-2012 12:07 PM

Thanks. This was a good time restoring and am ready to move on.

Winter is almost over and I will putting it up for sale. Comes with custom black tandem trailer with electric brakes. Never in salt water-always on lift on the Lake.

30K takes it home.:drool1:

Cig19 the boat is awesome! I have a 20' and I need to replace the teak stripe down the deck. Someone took a belt sander to it and hacked it up. When you replaced the stripe did you screw and plug the screw holes or 5200 down? How thick was the stock that you used? Do you have any recommendations or tips that would help me, when i tackle my stripe? Again the boat looks fantastic.

Drop me a pm with your email or phone. I replaced my wood stripe last year and can give some insight.

1979, brown, all original except has 454 now. Perfect candidate for high dollar resto or enjoy now, lake ready. Stored in garage in Tulsa since winterizing. I paid Wild $16 K for it a few summers ago and we drove it about half a dozen times. Cool boat, way to small for Grand. NO reaseonable offer refussed ! I can trade for cars, gold, guys or cash.
