Not a clue...
Looks pretty clean. The only way to tell would be to see it in person. |
I had a chance to work on a squadron years ago as it had a punky transom. The thru-hull and outdrive cut outs were only painted over and not glassed in.
Can't say if this was a normal practice from the builder at the time or if this particular squadron had alot of work done to her and someone took a shortcut.... |
...

Buddy of mine has one. With some nice power in it. One of the coolest boats ever. I'll. Try to find a pic.

pvc d!cks keep the sound down. I'm guessing they'd be pretty easy to break off... |

Also looks like Imperial splashed it too. http://tampa.craigslist.org/hdo/boa/3912610419.html

kind of looks like it but the squadron has no cabin
|
The squadron hull has huge outside strakes - twice as wide as any other 27'er. The only hull I've seen since IMP built a few in the mid 80's is a west coast builder that is building a boat with the lower hull, but with a rounded modern deck on it - but you can see it has the huge strakes and is exactly 27' like the squadrons. I don't remember the name, might be Dana.
|
When I looked into the Dana 27/ rayson craft 27 I was told that it was modified magnum 27 splash, that they doubled or tripled the size of the outer strakes and made a new deck. So similar in theory but didn't the magnum 27s have a 7.5' beam? vs the 8' of the squadron? I was also under the impression that IMP bought the squadron molds, but can't find any way to confirm that other than the the way the IMPs look etc.

Here is an outrageous one that was for sale a couple years ago called "The Tribute". Bill
|
How much water do these draw sitting at the dock? Drive up? Drive down?
|
I just went and looked at hull #8. It looks damn good and feels solid if anyone is interested. It looks to have a speedmaster 2 and a 525 with stelling headers on the original Myco trailer. Wood dash and it says it was rigged by Total Performance.

I do no know the owner personally just had to take a look since it was in my area. Good shape over all. Typical scrapes and chips on the bottom. Tapped around on the transom and it sounded solid. The last tags that were on it were from 2002. Someone badged it as a cigarette but it is in fact a squadron. Don't know if it was repainted as a cigarette or somehow left factory that way. Engine has nice hardware on it but as has been told sitting is not good. Stellings are in nice shape and are dry exhaust so it will be a loud one. The guy I talked to was the owner's step son. He claims his father in law is original owner. Who knows. The boat is all period correct.

I have #19. xex270190682. It will be for sale next year. I own way to many boats. I also have the original sales/spec sheet from Squadron XII. It's pretty cool! Original base price of $32990.00, 62 mph w/ 400 Cyclone TRS 4200lbs (approx.) I would think they all weighed different depending on the layup.
|
^^^ Would love to check it out. Keep me posted
