is it Kevlar or not?
I dropped the headliner in the cabin to get to the dash wiring and snapped a pic. 35' Mistress, is it Kevlar or glass?

Has a gold ting as from what ive learned a golden color is a kevlar lay up. Same as my velocity was

Funny you ask this Billy. The fountain Dad and I just picked up has the same color glass, is laid up really light. But older fiberglass was also a dark gold color as well. How heavy is the boat laid up, what year is it? One way to get a better idea is to try and grind some of it. If it becomes gummy/stringy it is a good chance it is.

Thats glass

Glass. You wouldn't be able to see the deck coring through kevlar.

cool, thanks guys, just curious. its definately layed up light, you can see light thru the hull
|
That just means the hull is solid glass (no core). My apache was the same way, could see light coming through the hull and it was laid up pretty heavy.......one of the heaviest 28ft boats out there.

You've got to look at the hull sides. I'll take a photo tomorrow and post what the kevlar looks like. It's a deeper yellow, almost like gold... but I'm not sure that the deck on mine is kevlar or not. It may be, I've just never seen it.
