Don't give up! This would make a nice project for someone......

Too bad, but I can relate.

Full Force 08-02-2012 02:47 PM

your that close and you don't wanna finish it??? you invested the money so I would finish it...nobody's gonna spend a good chink of money on a boat unfinished.. you will have the give it away ... I say finish it..looks like a great boat... the next one would probably turn into a project too unless you get something newer.... I put mine together in a week! you look almost about where mine was when I got it...

If you've ever gotten to his point of completion, with the hardware he has, and what looks to be some quality work, that price is reasonable. Someone who has been through it before would understand. I'm sure he's taking on the chin as far as what he's spent already. You should buy it, finish it for this season, would look good at the Casino.....

You could make it to Oktoberfest at PIB!!!

I get it, but look at what some of the running boats are going for between 60-80,000.... I never said it was a bad price, but no bank will finance older boats these days, let alone one that cant get a survery do to being incomplete, someone has to have cash most likely, loan would be hard to get...

thesre is some real nice hardware there and if I spent that money I would make sure I finished it and ran it... I had way more into my Baja then I should have... at least now I'm puttin it in a Cig...

I won't tell you what my buddy let his 41 Apache go for turn key with 900HP a side..

btw... wheres your boat?? see ya at Casino Friday night!! ???

jasonmd2 08-02-2012 04:48 PM

Yeah don't give up man...I can relate too!

Every once and a while I get frustrated with my project and the fact it's not done yet, but man you're so close. Just bite the bullet and finish her up and then if you still want, sell it complete and running.

As others have already said, it's absolutely AMAZING how much $$$ you can dump into these things on what seems to be little, meanigless sh!t :angry-smiley-038: Damn if I ever looked at all my receipts from the local hardware store for all the stainless bolts, nuts, washers, and misc crap I'd surely cry!

Anyways, my vote is finish it man! Get 'er runnin and then you won't want to sell her :evilb:

I agree, but someone, like myself, might be looking for a project just like that. It's a tough sell for sure as is. Not sure what;s left to finish, but for under 100K, you might end up with a very nice setup. Someone would have to have cash for sure.

My boat (Cig) is still in progress, chipping away at it. The SeaRay is in the water for this season, not as exciting, but as long as I'm on the water who cares. I wish I could be up there with you, but this wedding/bachelor party season is killing me. It has officially ruined boating season, I've been out only 4 times this whole year. Although the whole Vegas thingy last weekend was worth it!

We really f-d his thread up huh? sorry.

I don't think we fukked it.up... I think he should finish that thing and have a bad ass boat... and save him the regret of kicking.g himself in the ass for giving.g it away as I have done myself many times over the years.... I do however put reality out there... our market sucks for selling... why let someone take advantage of your hard work and tins of money spent... fuk that... I woukda love to see that cig done and he woukda be happy and proud he did it himself...

Guys I agree with a lot of your statements But I'm feed up working in the sun with 100 to 110 feel temps here in NC for the past six weeks. Boat should of been in water in May. Rains, company coming to stay for a week at a time as put me behind. I've been chasing a ground problem in the starter circuit. Switched starters on engines, by passed one cable at a time, can't get starter to spin engine, just drags, hook positive to positive and starter spins engine. Hook one cable at a time and still can't get starter to spin engine without dragging. Wife dosen't like boat anyway. She wanted a pontoon or a Sundancer, after I sold the Mistress, so I bought her a pontoon, I have a jet ski also. So I'm on the water all the time anyway. If I could figure this starter thing out I could install the other engine. Both engines ran great on dyno. All parts inside and on engine are all performance after market parts. No GM stuff. To many things to list here. Someone with mechanical skills could have boat in water in a few days. All parts parts are here. I'm just tired of dealing with it. Someone use their equity line on their house and come and get it. I'm over it .

Walk away before you blow a fuse! Give it a month or two, enjoy your boating season, relax, then go back and finish it. We all get discouraged, but don't give up. You're too damn close!

finish it! finish it! finish it!:ernaehrung004:

bustedbrick 08-03-2012 11:13 AM

I've been exactly where Harvey is, including the wife part. I fully appreciate his point. Once a project isn't fun anymore, gotta cut your losses. And boats are always projects, it is never "just finished"

carter38 08-03-2012 11:18 AM

Don't give up yet been in your shoes many times. Wish you were closer and I would help you get it done. Looks great so far!

Harvey 08-03-2012 12:24 PM

I've cleaned all terminals with a airgrinder with a wire brush install. They are all clean and shinney.
