Cigarette/Squadron XII 27
Tried posting this in the clasics section but didnt get a lot of feedback so hopefully more people will chime in on the cig forum, since boats are kind of related.
I found a squadron 27 that might be for sale and before placing an offer I wanted to know a little about the boat. I have read the forum and know a bit about the history of squadron but since so few were made it's hard to find a lot of owner feedback and information. Like, how does the boat handle in big water? What types of speeds can I expect with a 496 ho? And other minor info such as gas tank capacity, dry weight, common problems to look for in these boats? Here's a pic of the HIN. I read that only 18 were made but this HIN says # 21. Or am I missing something? http://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/...Y/a9ab633f.jpg |

Whay year was that?? Mine is #18 and it is an '83.. As far as we knew #18 was the last...
Have any more pics?? As for speeds, I have a lake X performance sheet from my hull.. Power was a 400 Cyclone TRS 1.5 ratio Weight 4405 w/o prop 1/2 fuel 1 man 62mph @ 5300 spinning a 14 3/4 X 21 cleaver... So I am sure new power (450+/-), more efficient drive with a higher propshaft and new prop technology, I would estimate close to 70s. |
26 Spyder how's the restoration project going on your Squadron? I saw the thread on SOS that showed your transom and stringer work.

Nice! How is she running?

I owned this boat from 2000 - 2004, traded it in for a 35 Cafe Racer and bought it back after it sat in the boat yard for 4 months un-covered with the drain plug still in it - This was a National marine story, but I sold it to that Chris guy who is no longer on this site cause he was such a scammer - Glad to see it running again, hope they replace the rotten stringer - Capt Greg

Other than that the boat is running fine except that not very fast, it has a 496HO =currently and am craving more power. |

Hey everyone,
I know this is not the right thread, so was hoping someone could point me in the right direction. I am looking to sell a Squadron XII, built by Cigarette in 1981. 454 Corvette engine 400HP with only 400 original miles on it. Again, sorry to post this here, but if someone could point me in the right direction to the correct thread, that would be great. Thanks. |
