TRS to Speed Master swap question
 

At the end of next month I am pulling my TRS drives off and Im going with #3 Speed Masters..... Do the motors stay in the same location as the TRS set up?

Oh and if anyone has some extension boxes laying around Im looking for a set of those too.

from my experiance with top guns the x demiinsion on a speedy boat is higher than a trs boat. pm cigrocket he has a #3a boat he can get you a x deminsion measurement. why not just throw konrads on it. they work awsome on the old trs boats. my friend has a pr of 1000's in front of konrad 540's. runs over the C note

Plan on moving the motors up and back. Best way is to close up the transom and start over with drive and exhaust holes. 3s or 3as on a gun makes a very nice boat.

I thought about it but I got a good deal on a set of #3's complete with the trannys plus an extra tranny and an extra upper. All of that together made me lean towards the SSM's

true its just a lot of work and modification. you might find with redoing your transom and such cost wise it could get more expensive than you think. i would weigh my options and costs of what could i sell the 3's for and buy konrads vs the time and money to actually convert to the 3's. ALSO what some of my friends are running into is they are having a hard time finding props to try for their small shaft 3's. since they only fit a speedy 2 or 3. food for thought.

You can get SSM IIIA/V/VI Props, and get the adapters from Arneson and run whatever you can find.

This as also smart, becuase if you rig for the III's, and then either blow them up or change your mind later, you can change to IIIA's or V's just by bolting on the leg (1 hour per side) and you can then still use the props you've already paid for. That's what I did when it was time to buy props, and my boat still had the III's on. I traded away the adapters, and never ended up using them.

If you are under 700 hp per side, I'd put those III's on and enjoy a nice reliable rig.

I'm doing the same on my Excalibur, you will be moving then Motors back 3" and I am setting my x dimension at 22" so my propshaft is about 3" below the bottom. I had my 3s for sale real cheap and had no interest so I wouldn't think about selling and getting konrads
