I talked with John about his boat in Tulsa. Are there any others out there?

i agree man! most of the parts are already there. new interior and paint, maybe switch to a bravo, you'll have one fun ride. i bought mine with a chit motor and horrible interior for 6k. That motor looks pretty solid. probably when all said and done maybe a 10 to 15k investment and totally worth every penny!!

I have driven both back to back; the ride is more different than I would have originally thought, but they are similar. The Cig is lighter and skips over the waves more than the Donzi. I believe the Cig is roughly 1000lbs lighter. The Cig I drove has the original 1979 steering (which has taken a beating over the years) and the Donzi has hydraulic; the Donzi was therefore a more confident boat in rough water.
The Cig hull handled rough water a little better than the Donzi- if it wasn't for the slack in the steering it may in fact be more confident than the Donzi.

The Cig likes air time. It probably spent most of its time out of the water. The Donzi does still gets plenty of air time but does a better job of keeping the drive in the water.

I'm not really sure what else to compare between the two since the speed is incomparable (Cig has original 454/TRS, Donzi has 496HO/B1X). Let me know if you want to know anything else.

The Cig is getting a 496HO/B1X this winter along with hydraulic steering (Aside from redoing the entire boat). If you're still looking for a boat by the springtime I'll let you know how the Cig does with the new power.
