While I gotz my starboard motor out is there a known location that works, or should I wait and put that thing in a bag of water to find the spot?

Starboard side, 4 to 6 inches up from keel, in front of engine and just behind the forward platform bulkhead, also check so the degree is within the transducer manufactures range, might have to take a little glass out and get an adjustable transducer kit like ( Garmin AIRMAR P79, adjustable in-hull mount ), the more level it is from side to side the better.
