Tres Martin Lives in OCALA maybe give him a shout.

Or if you post a picture someobody usually knows the boat and can offer an opinion on condition.

if its the boat i called on his father is selling it. so he might know a thing or 2 about it. how did the survey go?

airshares 04-19-2013 03:01 AM

Yes tres was selling it. Survey didnt go so well. But tres and a 3rd party i had look at it say opposite of the survey. But the surveyor also told me he couldnt shift the bravos at all. And even without the engine running they should shift with a finger.

By design, Bravo drives do not shift well (or at all) unless the engine is running.

True ^^^....and alot of the time if they dont shift, its one of the cables that need replace.

Sounds like your surveyor needs to go back to drivings his Kia. You ARE NOT supposed to shift a Bravo without the engine running. It will damage the cable and/or top end of the drive.

Sadly finding a good surveyor is about as difficult as finding a good boat. I can't image the feeling of having paid someone to survey a boat only to find out they were guessing or fabricating the results and you're facing massive mechanical or structural repairs.

I think i wasted 600 bucks on the survey to tell me what everyone already knows about these boats but oh well. Considering Tres Martin is telling me its a good boat as well as a cig owner member who went and viewed, ran it for me. Im gonna roll the dice as they say.

bigfarmer 04-19-2013 05:02 PM

Tres is A straight shooter... he wont hide anything on you. Bought My Top Gun through him and it was everything he said no B.S. He Knows those boats inside and out, id take his advice on it.

airshares 04-20-2013 02:36 AM

Thanks for the input. Im new to the cigarette world and I didnt know who Tres was. But its great that everyone has good things to say about him.

This one looks real close to the paint scheme on your boat.

Im planning this paint scheme. Only Silver and White.

cigrocket 04-22-2013 07:24 AM

Problem is, insurance is going to require a current survey on the boat anyway. so you end up having to deal with it no matter how you look at it. Just another hassle. Best to check it out yourself, and yes Tres is a straight shooter, and if he said its ready to go, I think you are set! good luck with the boat

That will look sweet.

Unfortunately, the majority of professional surveyors are very out of touch with performance boats in general. Especially up here in the North East.

We've got a guy up here that sounds very similar to what you had experienced. He's an older gentleman, show's up smoking a pipe, walks around the boat, puffs a few times, says hmmm between puffs, taps here and there with a little hammer and jots down random notes such as need a longer anchor chain or something... Rarely is there any info of substance.

At least in the state of Florida, you've got Ed Cozzi to give an accurate and complete survey!

Same with the home inspectors you're forced to hire to get a mortgage. Very little substance.
