38 Top Gun w/525's
What is a realistic top speed for a 38 Top Gun, stepped hull with 525's I was talking to someone this weekend and they were saying they were running 109 with this combo....I didn't think this combo was but mid 90's at best.....not trying to start any huge debate, just curious.

86 - 88ish

Mid to high 80s on a TS, only exception would be one of the original F2 Top Guns which were a few ticks faster.

I have an 03 525 s with its and xr sport masters
32 bravo1s labbed 90.2 GPS low fuel |
Thank you all, that was what I was thinking.

No other work?

I think you know I've been checking into them too Bear and everything I've been told is what these guys have said, things being stock 525 and equal, seems 86-88 depending on all the normal factors, temp, fuel, water conditions, pretty fair numbers for a boat that size, that's why a TS TG appeals to me for these runs down here,............... do you need to tell me anything, good luck.

The speeds everyone is quoting is what I thought, this one person kept trying to tell me his ran 109....I tried to be reasonable after 5 or 6 times saying bull****, thinking maybe my estimate was wrong, but from what I see here unless it has 700 plus HP no way...

Phil was working on a new side by side TG with 650 Zul's several years back when we were down there and it was running over the century mark (102+ if memory serves me) but the motors were starving for air with the hatch down. He and Ritchie were trying different ways to get additional air into the bilge. Now, obviously, this was with an extreme amount of tweaking from a very knowledgeable guy when it comes to Cigs and one helluva engine builder. Don't know what the final number was on the boat but obviously it would take in the 700hp range to get near that 109 summit.
