67 is very respectable for stock power and drives that will run forever. I have blown up too much and needed to be towed back for years before realizing that 5-10 mph isn't worth lost boating time...

I couldn't agree with you more, that is the reason I was leaning towards factory 525's drop those in store my 496's
if and or when the time comes drop them back in and use the 525's on a different boat :)

Stroked 496 from 454? Or merc 496's? I do know the merc 496 will about 3 lbs boost to be safe after that you gotta build the shortblocks....but yes they can handle blowers

those are merc 496 HOs. from everything i read, when i owned this boat, there were not any "bolt ons" that offer any significant gain without seriously affecting the reliability...although i know raylar and whipple also had a kit at one time. i think the problem was with the computer and tuning it properly... as well as the bottom end...

67 is not bad and that is what I saw with that setup as well. if u want to go faster, sell the 496s and buy bigger power.

There are a few guys I know with prochargers on 496 with nonissues but you gotta keep it at 3 lbs any more forget it!!! Lol

I read the same thing, I am just kicking around the idea of bigger stock engines that are still reliable, I really do enjoy this boat actually I love it....

A little more top end would be nice, like 74-75 then I would really LOVE IT!

Also there is no way I am redoing another boat this winter......... LOL, well at this present time. Bought for $35,000.00 and I am at right around $55,000.00 so far and counting...

Haha. You're still about 40k shy of what i put into it. I think i paid 45k for the boat. Add 2 brand new 496ho packages, marine machine steering, new dash and you start to get the picture... :)

Saw you in the no wake zone heading into Nipersink this past Sunday. The boat looked awesome! It looked super clean. I really dig the grey combo.

Yamaha - the boat looks GREAT! Nice job.

How did you get the hull and deck to SHINE like that??? I would love to see mine shine.

As for speed, 67 is great. I'm only seeing 70 with 600HP (~590 at the RPM I can spin to) and Bravo 1s (1.36 ratio).

Hull comes alive after 70... really gets out of the water and runs great!!
