kaamas on a cigarette????
Just wondering what anyones thoughts are on it since theyre pretty much a dime a dozen. My #5's only have 2 seasons on them since all new gears, 1 of which with only 500s in front of them should bring 25k+, get a new set of boxes without tailstocks and weld a new rear plate in to have a fresh base to mount them to? Am I dreaming??? Are they any more efficient to turn? Or should I let well enough alone?:eureka:

Mark(h20) has commented on the kaamas drives a few times in the Magnum section. Claimed they worked great on a cat he ran back in the day. Only down fall is getting parts. Pm Mark he is a top notch old school racer!

Dan MacNamara from Archer would be the one to tell you how well that would work. You'd need drop boxes because the Kaama's would be mounted much lower than your current trans output. They'd probably go even lower than your boxes would allow. I think it'd be a great project on your boat with your money, I'd love to watch. Kaama cutout pic.

good luck. i would prob go with arnesons vs the kaama tho.

Definitely. But I thought he wanted to sell his for 25k, buy the kaamas for 5k and end up with a surface drive boat and 20k in the bank. Of course he'd also end up with a worthless Cigarette but what the hell.

Notice the last sentence I added with the edit while you were typing this though

What are you running w/ 800's?

There have not been many Cigarettes with shaft/surface drives. Do a search on the Zero Cavity Cigarette, as Doc went to Pulse Drives briefly, and then ripped the whole transom apart to go back to SSM. I think you would be wasting your money. If you want to make your boat "legendary", step up to VI drives. There have only been a handful of straight bottom guns with VI drives, and they all seem to have a following and list of buyers when they come up for sale.

I know a few that have been sitting on some fresh #5`s for a long time @ $15 and 18K

arent your drives big shaft 4's like i had for sale and not 5's??

Common consensus is the Kammas are junk. I'll just let well enough alone |
Doesn't arnesons have conversion to swap and use your gembles?

This is what I did

you have a great boat now, use it and enjoy it for what it's worth. you have a nice motor and drive package that will make it worth more than others when the time comes, don't bury yourself in it unless you plan to keep it and if that is the case then do what you like with it. it will always be worth decent money, it's a cigarette top gun! 12-15k on the drive package imo, that is what the buyers are paying for the nice stuff
