Project X

Well Cigarette brothers Project X has officially begun. Just returned from Miami where we placed our 42X order with Cigarette. What an experience. We got to work in Cigarette's new Design Center, this was amazing. Cigarette has really raised the bar when it comes to designing a custom performance boat. When we built our 2011 Top Gun the process took several visits to the factory over a 30 day period, we actually accomplished 90% of Project X in 4.5 hours.

Power will be the 1100QVC4v / M8. :drool1: Will be working thru several renderings over the next several days before graphics are finalized. We're working toward an April delivery.

My goal is to share the entire build process here on OSO under this thread.

Stay tuned!

Gary

When we toured the factory last year they went over the process of how they build and design. Def seemed custom and very efficient.

Very cool experience I am sure and count me in for bookmarked.

1350's are a waste of money in the 42X! They are plenty fast with the 1100's and you can run 89 octane.

Great question. Really considered 1350's, three primary reason's 1) fuel, 1100's run on 89 octane. Non-ethanol 89 is easy to come by on most lakes, 93 not so much. 2) Engine life. 3) 42 X with 1100's put boat in targeted WOT speed range.

I'm a loyal OSU Buckeye fan so Scarlet & Gray will be primary theme.

cowisl 11-24-2014 12:09 PM

congrats!

Tom A. 11-24-2014 01:22 PM

Congrats Gary!

My friend Bob has a 42x with 1100's and the boat is an animal. Easily 125mph boat and that is plenty fast for a V! It eats up the big water like nothing!

Can't wait to see the build!

SLOWRIDE-388 11-24-2014 08:09 PM

Congrats, should be a cool build to watch. Always like the 42x, great choice on the 1100s.

Thanks for letting us all know we're still in the poor house.

How much of a price difference between the 1100 and 1350 with the same drive

Didn't price 1350's but I don't think it's that much more. Fuel was the issue with me. Love the fact that the 1100's take 89. Slightly less radical as well.

I rode in a 1350 42X in 2013 and never really got over it. We were at the Cigarette rendezvous was offered a ride during the lunch event. Was so impressed after the ride I had Legendary Marine load my 39 TG back on the trailer.

stimleck 11-26-2014 06:46 AM

Boating with 89 octane will be much more enjoyable

soggy bottom 11-26-2014 08:34 AM

I read somewhere that, the life span between overhauls of they 1100 is more than double of they 1350, that is also something to consider.

1100's are the better and smarter choice.
