That sounds slow???

SS930 12-29-2014 03:19 PM

750 hp should get you to about 86-88 mph dialed in.

kreed 12-29-2014 03:57 PM

How fast would a 2000 37 Outerlimits be with the same power Scot? Just comparing. I really think an old OL is VERY under rated when being compared to the POPULAR Top Gun.

88bullet 12-29-2014 04:27 PM

730hp in a 37 stiletto will run 104. they run 84-85 with hp500's.

the top gun should run low 80's

Gotcha. 37's are really growing on me.

kreed 12-29-2014 04:39 PM

20 MPH difference is a big deal IMO

The one I rode in seemed to have a lot of proposing. Single step '97 I think.

cigarette38topgun 12-29-2014 05:00 PM

The OL will outrun the TG with the same power but I still would rather have the TG ride in the slop.

MDGperformance 12-29-2014 05:25 PM

we built a set of my540-650hp non step top gun ran around 80-82,we also built a set of 598-775hp non step top gun ran around 90,the 650 boat had std xr,the 775hp had xr-2sportmaster both boat were in the mid 90s era,the 598 engines had massive torque and could turn big wheels really hard on drives

Donziben 12-29-2014 06:15 PM

All those #'s seem about right, every straight bottom gun I've seen with 650-700hp runs right above 80. A buddy has a '95 with 525efi, xr's. Runs around 72mph.

My cousin had a '99 single step OL stilleto,(wild card). It is a staggered,#6 boat had 800-850's in it and would run mid 100's, never seen 110. Not sure on the props, had a set of 4 and 5 blades.

I've spent some time in both, a stilleto is definetly faster than a straight bottom gun, the stilleto's ride isn't bad, but it is not a top gun.

cig92 12-29-2014 07:09 PM

i currently have both, 38 tg 92 carbon boat with ssm 540/ 598 hp, the boat ran 81 mph. took those motors out and put them in the 97 ol stiletto and the boat ran 93/94 mph (xr on boxes). NO hop on the outerlimits, never even heard of one doing that. the same stiletto with 598/ 735 hp ran 104mph, no hop. the 598 will be going in the top gun in a month or two, expecting low to mid 90's. my brother has a 92 kevlar gun with konrad and 572 cu in 5 liter whipple detuned 1000's, runs right at 100. original the konrad boat was a trs boat with hawk 600's, ran 73/74 (blown 454 b&m 250's)

i will sell you a kevlar speedmaster 750hp top gun and you will be a lot more happy not blowing bravos

242LS 12-30-2014 09:04 PM

My buddy's got an '89 Anniversary Edition (notched) with 700s & Konrads for sale....

bigdog107 12-31-2014 03:28 PM

What speed will a 38 topgun run with #3 and 800 hp with no step

F-2 Speedy 12-31-2014 03:47 PM

In the right conditions, upper 80's low 90's from all that I've read, my TG is for sale also, its not this fast but you cant fish at 70

bigdog107 12-31-2014 07:13 PM

Isnt a boat with bravo drives faster then a boat with #3 drives do to weight and loss of hp to the transmission. I know you can get beef up bravos.

Unlimited jd 12-31-2014 07:34 PM

Buy a bravo boat, and then spend $25,000 upgrading drives or just buy the #3 boat..... I'll buy the 3 boat and put 10k in the motors

Sick Stinger 01-01-2015 10:02 AM

There is a better option then 3s rite now I know of a 5 boat with some 900s and AC updat d a few years ago but the color is a bit tough though

thisistank 01-02-2015 01:44 AM

My 95 Top gun with warned 525SC's putting out about 650 hp and SSM3A's ran about 74 on a good day. Regular layup, full cabin and loaded with anchor, beer (I mean water) and a heavy stereo as well as whatever other crap I had.

I loved my 3A's. Basically bullet proof for the power. never had to worry about blowing a drive or missing coming off the sticks when airing out. zing the reve limiters coming out of the water now and again was no biggy. Just kept on truckin'!

carter38 01-02-2015 09:08 AM

My 750hp gun ran 84-85 pretty consistant.

How come no one has just dropped the power back in that boat? From the ad that's all it needs right?

Are you sure you didn't have 580 cu. in. Aluminum Donovan blocks that made 850 hp. That was the spec for the 90 mph edition and 850 hp got you 90.something

I've wondered the same thing. What became of the power, did those engines end up in the 32 Skater?
