Buddy just bought this boat and wants to turn it. 1999 Café Racer w/ 2004 496 Mags and bravo1 drives bought new and installed by Mercury with 80 hours.

Any interest?

You are correct it is a 1989 model

RebarBox 06-01-2015 10:05 PM

What is the $$$? for the boat?

T-RAV 06-01-2015 10:18 PM

What will it run with the mags? 63-65? $$?

Full Force 06-02-2015 05:38 AM

God that looks so reliable.... hmmmmmmm

carter38 06-02-2015 09:01 AM

Price?

Prob a good guess. What's the weight?

I have to imagine it runs close to what my Sonic does

Full Force 06-02-2015 09:21 AM

I would guess 63 ish also, man so reliable at that speed....

donzi matt 06-02-2015 09:32 AM

My 87 with 496HO's runs 67-68, but I suspect the X dimension may be higher than a boat initially built with bravos.

T-RAV 06-02-2015 10:20 AM

I dig it, would rather it be ho but if the rest of the boat is clean and the price is right it could be a good setup. Well with a cam swap...

thisistank 06-02-2015 10:27 AM

Buddies cafe had 496's in it. Ran high 60's.

So......high 60's with very reliable setup. Forgive my ignorance, but a 525sc (or larger) will yield a few more mph top end? And with that, suffer much on reliability, not to mention the added expenses: fuel, insurance, maintenance. Again, just asking. If midrange power (power band), time to get to top end, and general badassery is the difference, then it makes some sense.

Knot 4 Me 06-02-2015 02:34 PM

Might even be able to swap cams without removing mills. Nice!

"Badassery" - lol.

I had 525SC's in my gun. They were warmed a little but it's run 75 with 3A's. And yes, the mid range (boost assist) will be quicker than the 496s but who cares? Those 496's are turn key.

rumrunner29 06-02-2015 05:15 PM

65 seems a bit high when Rebar's 90 mph cafe with big power and 3s can be had for less money....just sayin'
good looking cafe though, good luck with the sale.

Unlimited jd 06-02-2015 05:29 PM

Some of us feel that way but honestly I've found a lot more buyers for stock power bravo boats than even a mild powered #6 boat for under 100k it's crazy

T-RAV 06-02-2015 05:33 PM

Well I'm out!!!

donzi matt 06-02-2015 06:49 PM

I think your friend is going to have a real challenge on his hands selling that boat for anything near 65. I bought my cafe last fall with 145 hours on 496 HO's, marine machine steering, and a brand new interior and I didn't pay anywhere close to that number. Heck if I had that kind of budget Rebar's cafe would be at my dock right now. And if he does get that money, please let me know and I will be posting for sale ads all over the internet for my boat.

seafordguy 06-02-2015 07:49 PM

I think he's going to have a hard time "turning it" at that price. I paid 65 for mine in 2006 with the newer cabin, fresh blower motors, e-tops, IMCO steering, and a manning trailer under it......

Gotta love it hahha

kreed 06-03-2015 07:09 AM

This is a nice Café for sure, but I don't even think a 1989 TOP GUN with 496's would sell for 65K right now...

thisistank 06-03-2015 11:19 AM

Tough sale for sure when you have competition like these and they haven't sold in months!!

And of course rebars which is a really sweet ride at a great price.

Then there's these nice guns for less too

Hope he likes it because he's going to have it for a long time at that price.

1MOSES1 06-03-2015 01:28 PM

agreed with what has been said...there are mid 90's top guns with better power and drives not fetching 65k.

It's like everything, the right buyer will come along. Just have to wait for the stars to align. At 65 your boats a deal. At 60 it's a steal. Just enjoy it and keep it listed. Someone out there is eyeballing it but waiting for this or that to line up in order to make it happen. That day will come soon I'm sure. ;)

$4k more and you can have my 05 Sonic with HO's.

Nice boat but a touch high IMO.

314joey 06-03-2015 05:56 PM

It's a nice boat, but if i was wanting a different boat in that price range rebar's ride would be on my lift, love that red/white paint.

TBAG 06-03-2015 06:19 PM

I had a buddy who was interested and in KY but is out after asking price was posted.

Too many better options out there for that amount.

Good looking Cafe though, GL with the sale.

RebarBox 06-03-2015 06:38 PM

If I was hunting a Cafe', I think I would buy Rebar's boat too. :)

I e-mailed Brett about it, he said it was bad azz.

I really hate owning two boats, I've done it a few times and it sucks.
