You guys live a good life and know how to do it right. The right boats ;) good friends and family and an epic destination. What more could you ask for ? Except maybe to not have to leave at some point! :D

The keys are my favorite destination. Love it down there.

Biggus 06-14-2015 08:21 PM

Man, I'd love to tag along on one of your trips sometime. Preferably when we are chest deep in snow up here!

Zero Patience 06-14-2015 08:25 PM

Send your boat down this winter, ole bud!

315duramax 06-14-2015 08:36 PM

That's what we need, if there's enough interest, let's do it. The Crystal River Florida Cigs will help out.

offshoredrillin 06-15-2015 06:19 AM

The tiger should be ready in a couple weeks and ive never been to key west, im going there in august as my daughter is stationed in the coast guard ther aboard the Thetis, what dates in Nov and ill see if i can start working on it now, one of the pitfalls of being self employed...

DonziChick 06-15-2015 07:38 AM

I'd love to make it up to Gilbert's by boat. We spend a lot of time in the Keys in the winter but without a plotter tend to stick to the places we know how to get into easily. A plotter is on the "to get" list for this winter!

What a cool trip. Love the Keys...

Those #6's are way back there in that forth shot. So cool...

fandango 06-15-2015 10:14 AM

I've done that trip many times. Would love to do again!!!

Xtreme Air 06-15-2015 02:09 PM

Sounds like fun. Would love to do that trip..

Zero Patience 06-15-2015 03:38 PM

Ok, all you Cigs interested, figure some dates out. Fario Blanco would be the place to dock and stay for more than 3-4 boats. They could handle15-20 easily. There is a new Hyatt there now. Plus protected docks. Lots of easy day trips to islamorada or Key West. The gallion key west could also handle a big group, but the day trips are limited.

HUSTLEthis 06-15-2015 07:32 PM

Are we talking over the Worlds weekend in Nov?

That would conflict with the FPC Key west run - need another date - Mid Oct, early Dec? Jan? Whats the new place in Marathon? Could also do a day trip from Miami to Gilberts and back...

HUSTLEthis 06-15-2015 09:20 PM

How about the week of Thanksgiving? The wifes a teacher, makes it a little time restrictive.... or around Christmas? before/after?

WARPARTY36 06-17-2015 02:26 PM

I hope to send my Cig down for the winter. A run after November sometime sounds good to me.

Sydwayz 06-17-2015 02:51 PM

FWIW chaps:

We had about 9 ATs running out of the the Westin in Cape Coral for a 4 day weekend this past March.
http://www.westincapecoral.com/
http://www.tarponpoint.com/index.php/the-marina
We took day trips to different locations, and returned each night to reserved slips, excellent facilities, and our trucks/trailers were all onsite.

I love the boating in the Keys, but this was the first time I explored the West Coast of Florida in my boat.
It was AWESOME. There are dozens of places you can go, and plenty of safe areas to boat in protected waters; especially in inclement weather.
When you are in the keys, you are at the mercy of the weather, and the seas can get nasty on you real fast.

Oh yeah, and the uber bonus: You don't have to deal with I-95!!

IMHO, if you want to go boating in the Keys in November, just sign up for the Key West Poker Run with FLPowerboat.com.
YES, it's expensive, but it's Key West, and it's worth it.

Cape Coral in March 2015:

Also, a friend/fellow OSO member is looking into opening a boat concierge service in Cape Coral by this winter as well. More info will be posted if that comes to fruition.

I debated for a while, but since y'all have crappy cabins; I figured I'd make sure to put the link to the nice hotel on there too so y'all can get buy in from the purse-string holders.

:drink:

(Please don't anyone freak out. All of the aforementioned is in jest!!)

mmb 06-17-2015 04:27 PM

Zero Patience's group runs to Key West for the races. You get to boat with all Cigarettes and dont have to pay $2,000 to the FPC! No brainer for me!!! Hell thats half of my condo bill paid lol.

Sounds good!!
What day would we run down? Wed or Thur possibly?
What condo do you have reservations at?...slips too?
The raft up at Hurricane Hole always looks awesome!

Big thing is competing with fpc for rooms. My vote would be for later in the month after thanksgiving. Im not really ip for doing a competing thing, id rather do a soley cig thing.

If I'm able to bring the Cig out for the winter, I'm thinking two separate trips too.... Just planning on the worlds and running to KW...
Definitely a separate all Cig run would be in!!

mmb 06-18-2015 12:12 PM

I am going to do Key West races and this Cigarette run if you put together a date!

Zero Patience 06-18-2015 07:10 PM

We run to KW on Tuesday each year. That way we avoid the FPC group run and don't infringe on Stu and Jackies run.

HUSTLEthis 06-19-2015 10:47 AM

Sounds good...what day do you boat back up...Thanks

cig92 06-21-2015 09:30 PM

We would be in for the november worlds on tuesday. i have done fpc run in the past and have no desire to pay that kind of money again lol. rooms are easy to get down there and by far the best week of the year in the keys in my opinion. we could get all the cigs together for the run out to the island on saturday as well, (my favorite part of race week).
