Used Headers for 500EFI

Anyone know what a set of used 500EFI headers goes for these days? No rust inside, small leak at the top weld.

I was advised to repair it, but decided to replace with new. I checked the marketplace to get an idea, but didn't see any used 500efi headers listed.

They are worthless unless you can verify that they are 100% repairable.

500EFI headers are just CMI E tops.

you make it sound like cmi e-tops are garbage...I haven't heard any issues with them on 500's. The 525's were a different story.

Last time I checked they were fetching $2500-3000 each new. To answer the OP's question I have seen used ones that didn't need repair for 1500-2000 for a set. If I were you I'd get them repaired then sell. Buyers will beat you up over price.

Cmi will repair them for 150 bucks. Have them repaired and you'll sell easier

Thanks for the info 1Moses1 and Seafordguy. These are "100%" useful answers.

Unfortunately I know this because I just had two sets repaired, and have two new motors and an entire winter of frustration to prove it. Good luck man....

I didn't say or mean to imply that. I have CMI ETops on my boat.
He was looking for an idea on used pricing for 500efi headers. He needed to look at prices for used CMI E tops.

What I was trying to say is that they need to verified as repairable. If they are not repairable, then they are not worth anything and are huge gamble for a buyer.

Griff is right, I removed two sets off my gun and only 1 out of the 4 only one was useable/repairable, yes they looked great and were on a running boat but that doesn't mean anything without a verified pressure test.....

I personally would NOT buy a used performance exhaust.

Best of both worlds, long lasting aluminum manifolds with header performance.

frickstyle 07-17-2015 08:26 AM

^^^ winner. I would stay away from headers, not worth the gamble and they will eventually crack. Like Diamond says above, good, safe, and reliable manifold with long runners/equal length.

I agree not as sexy, but sexier than a 'sploded engine.
