OK, I think all the older Cigs are the same, the bilge pumps are mounted on a "plate" glassed in, sucks because you have to REALLY raise the front of the boat and still cannot get all water out of the bilge.... has anyone put tiny bilge pump in front of it? I was going to channel the center out but hate to disturb factory sealed glass that is 30 years old.

During the summer we just leave the little bit of water in the bilge. Come winter we use a wet dry vac to suck out all the residual. I wouldn't mess with the current setup if I were you.

that's why I was thinking of a small pump in front, just hate the water there is ALWAYS some even at home in drive on trailer... ( I pull every weekend)

We don't pull home, instead leave the boat on a trailer at Marina about 100' from the launch. Even if you have a small bilge pump in front of the plates it won't pump it all out. We just live with it.

Top guns have a small hose that goes to the back right at the bottom of the "v" connected to a pump on the bulkhead, comes on with the bilge pump switch

First Gun 11-05-2015 05:56 AM

Diaphragm pump is commonly used to remove excess water left in the bilge that was not removed by common bilge pumps

Put this and Tim's response "can you bring me yours??" together and you get "I told you so"

3pointstar 11-05-2015 05:59 AM

What you may want to consider if freezing is your concer is pour a little of that to antifreeze in and run it thru the pump. Just a thought

HyFive578 11-05-2015 06:27 AM

If it really bothers you that much you can put an auxiliary pump with a screened pickup. My boat came with one and the hose rests in the lowest part of the bilge behind the regular bilge pumps and pulls out any remaining water that the bilge pumps miss. Its a Jabsco "water puppy".. Model # 18660-0121

Forgot about that one. It does an ok job unfortunately what happens is the pump starts to capitate and all of the water in the hose drains back into the bilge. There is no getting around having some water in there.

Shop Vac has worked best for me, and it doesn't care about cavitation. I have a 12V Stanley that I picked up through Amazon, only holds one gallon, but gets the job done.

Used a shop vac before but switched to the o'cedar mop and bucket from amazon. wouldnt touch the shop vac again, it now takes about a minute to completely empty the bilge after each trip out.

Had 2 drain plugs in my bullet. Filled them in and put one in the center. One cup of water in the Bow of the boat you get one cup of water out the back of the boat now. Lots of work was done under the floor and tanks but was with it .

A little water in there is better then oil like old times.

I bought a shop vac from harbor freight for $29. It stayed outside with an old bucket on it for about 5 years before it quit working. Money well spent.

I like that 12v shop vac idea though
