Funny...I just asked Tank the same question.

J-Bonz 01-25-2016 07:16 PM

I am out! Tanks gotta come they on this one..

thisistank 01-25-2016 07:27 PM

I say yes. Same trailer.

Max is on the east coast, virgin is in so cal and Lipship is in Az.

Chad / JBK would know for sure. He sold it to the most recent owner that I think was a buddy of his in loto.

Kinda torn on the paint. It's beautiful now but it was kinda iconic as the OG speed racer

Boomer35 01-25-2016 07:39 PM

It's not Maxx

Griff 01-25-2016 09:30 PM

Yes.

It was painted by Les at Precision Paint Worx at LOTO last winter. There are pics on MWBP.
I don't know who did the rest of the makeover and mechanicals.

Like Griff said, it's her.

I ran with her at the Cigarette Rendezvous in June. Had a good conversation with the owner. He didn't spare any expense. Paint and other work looked flawless.

Just not sure I agree with the decision to get away from the original paint. Tough one. To me it's like taking a one off COPO Camaro and completely changing the paint scheme. On the other hand, the new paint looks great.

My thoughts exactly.
It looks GREAT now.
But there was nothing wrong with it before. Interior and hatch change? Solid upgrade. But I miss the original graphics!

It's not like it had some Ricky-Bobby interpretation of a Lord of the Rings edition like another Cigarette once did. :D

Chad had removed the scoops and blowers on the engines and went to the padded engine hatch prior to selling it a couple years ago.

The "Cigarette" and "Carbon Fiber" on the sides had already been removed by the new owner. I think they were vinyl. Without them, it did not have the same look at all.
I think it was just to a point to where it was more cost effective to just do a complete makeover.

I too loved the original look, but strictly from a resale standpoint, I think its better in its current form.

Yes, I purchased it for the second time in March 2013 and sold it December of 2013 to the current owner. I had Vincent remove the blower scoops in the hatch and then added a new embroidered Cig logo. I also put some black XD wheels and new tires on the trailer to match my tow vehicle. It looks like he must be keeping them, because he has taken them off. Derek Dawson at Top Gun Marina swapped out the engines and did the rerig. They took the IMCO SC's off and ran BMax's for a while. Now it looks to have XR's on it. The exhaust cover plate on the transom to hide the old exhaust cutouts in the transom is a bit odd. I believe it is a result from Derek switching to talk decks. There's no doubt that the new owner has dumped a rediculous amount of money into the boat. I'm sure he has way more in it than what he is asking. Again, not my monkeys, not my circus! :) :) :)
