LS.....Your 35' looked reeeeeal sweet!...........was the weight a significant difference compared to a regular glass hull?

Yes it was. If you look at the back of the boat you can see how high it sits out of the water.
Those pics are so old you can see my son Bobby LSjr behind the wheel. he must b about 8 years old. He is 27.

I also had a Carbon Fiber 38 TG if you remember. That also was much lighter. I think that boat was a 91

Things were easier then, and parts were cheaper. Not to mention at the time the pink flamingo was a pretty quick machine!!!

I still love the statement someone made saying "not only does LS Jr. know the where abouts of every cig but e can even tell you what car the owner drives!" That boy knew his Cigs. Hope all is well with the fam, don't see him post much.

So now I'll get a little more straight foward...........What speed would a 35' kevlar Mistress with 650's & SSM #3's do?

tommymonza 01-29-2016 12:08 AM

What is weird to me is the 35 almost sat at the Chines for the waterline and the 38 sat much deeper. I would think the COG being much further forward on the 38 would have shown even less depth at the transom.

Unless there is. significant difference in fuel on board the 2 models.

That 35 must have been super light, it almost looks weird and top heavy compared to other 35s

Full Force 01-29-2016 10:33 AM

From what I read the hulls were 800 lbs lighter I could be wrong. But if that's the case a dynoed 650 hp and 3's I say maybe 77-80 mph boat on the right day.

Thanks Rob........I'm 6 years into the restore on the Magnum and still aways from splashing it...........a fully rigged & restored boat is nice to finally realize!! ........& to boot it's a Cigarette!!

cigrocket 01-29-2016 08:47 PM

My guess with the #3s and the original Cig x dimension, 78 mph everyday. That is my guess. I did slightly better with improved x dimension, better prop technology, little more power, heavy resin bucket. Cigarette put the 3s at a conservative low x dimension. It will be a great boat and congrats to you....good luck

You might hit 80 at times I bet in the bay with salt water, light on fuel, no passengers, and nothing in the cooler. Salt water is usually good for 2-3 mph on the straight bottoms

Rocket.........at some point I'll post the dyno sheet. The engine builder relates the story engines built for quick hole shot & cruise @ 60 3200rpm

dammmagnum 01-30-2016 03:39 PM

Pete,

Congrats on the deal,, looks to be a great boat.... I bet there are still some great boats and deals hiding in marinas and storage places ,, just have to have to time to explore them.
Great news
Jim

Thanks Jim...........In retrospect now, I'm kinda glad the 28' Ghost deal in California fell through........this one beats it by a mile!

dammmagnum 01-31-2016 09:48 AM

Pete,

I agree with you for you a lot more boat for a little more $$$ ,, a lot easier to bring home then from out here and a great rough water boat at that .Am sure you will enjoy it.
Are you heading to south to pick it up?
Thank you
Jim

Yea Jim it would have been triple the distance to bring home and most importantly, not such a family friendly boat at that.........within the month I'm flying down to see it, but it won't be in Jersey until I make sure everything is turn key!

Bill I don't know how that boat managed to stay "un-sold" even for the short period of time it was out there......probably one reason i beleive, ...........cash only, no finance!

Looking forward to pictures and the back story, Congratulations

The few that actually offered to buy didn't have the cash in pocket they had to finance to buy......no bank will finance an '83 boat.
