39 Top Gun
Does anyone know way Skip would name the 39 a Top Gun when the 38 has always been the Top Gun? Why not maybe bring back the Bullet or even the Mistress? I think Bullet would have been awesome. I don't get it 39 unlimited.

Same boat but ones a standard and ones a stagger. Engine compartment just a hair longer, everything else up is the same boat.
Bullet was a 31 (they should've called the vice - bullet). Mistress was a 35 and they actually did bring back that name in the early 2000's for an updated 35.

I've always thought the same thing about the Vice and the Mystique.

One of the main reason if not the main reason they stopped producing the Vice/ Mystique was it was not profitable with this size boat. Pretty much the same for the gladiator, hence why it's not produce anymore even though it is one of the customers favorite models. If the moneys not there it makes no sense.

Working on the boat last night and took a loooong beer break. While staring at the bolster seats and what to do to make them different and that same subject came up to step it. Think it would be a sweet ride. I don't Have the 20k to spend to do it but never know one day maybe.

That doesn't work well.
And as mike said, the cost recovery on the smaller boats just doesn't add up. It takes basically the same amount of labor to build a 30 vice as it does a larger more expensive model - rigging, cockpit equipment, motors/drives etc is all the same. Labor is basically the same. Only thing that costs less to build is fiberglass / raw material. The capped rail on the gladiator took a lot of man hours that was difficult to recover. So, smaller models are cool, but the market is smaller as well and the cost to net is rough.
