Converting interior?

Has anyone changed their interior to a 3 or 6 man bolster from a pleasure cockpit?

class6 02-12-2016 06:56 AM

I would consider new style sit down high backs. Email me. I can forward some pics of PPL complete front and rear set ups.

I've worked on a 46 Rough Rider with a 6 pack. It's not a difficult design to get the (6 pack) in. Once the bolsters and back seat are out. The side panels need to be removed. You basically work from the outside in to put is together. The front bolster extensions with tie the front to the dash with the side panels and rear back support being thru bolted. The only issue I've seen is the front center passanger has little to hold on to as the cabin entrance is in front of them.

My friend just added a drop in bolster between the two front bolsters on his 39' Gun and it works great.

Here's a couple pics with one of my friends Outerlimits with the same concept.

I was actually just going to post that picture lol. I would do that in the front because it is essentially a 3 man setup when you want it, but allows easy access to the cabin when you take it out. Then the only thing you would have to do is convert the back to 3 standup bolsters. I personally hate the back bench seat setup. I don't think I have ever stayed seated in the back seat of a vee bottom as I would much rather be standing and the standup back seat actually gives you more cockpit space.

Always liked the drop in center it side seat.

In the early 2000's Cigarette had an option of a center/removal bolster that connected to the front bolsters. As said before nothing to grab for support.

sonic700 02-12-2016 05:21 PM

Thanks guys, I was thinking about going full 6 man (like Tonto) with a some dash work for a grab handle. I might have to make one of the seats removable for those 3 a.m. stumbles into the cabin.

Yeah I don't want to trip over you on the way to my boat. LOL

Ryan, I wonder if you could speak with someone at the "Factory" and see if you might be able to sorce anything that'd be helpful. I realize sometimes people arent inclined to "give away" their proprietary drawings and such but ya never know.. Also, I bet you someone up in "classic offshore" might have a trick or two up their sleeves..

Corey, Not sure how many 6 man bolster Cig is doing anymore. I know my way around a tape measure and saw. LOL. I can make a removable back to get into the cabin easier. That might just be next winters project. This picture is how I would do it.

Rhythm and Blues 03-01-2016 07:41 PM

Hhmm... That looks like an Apache.............

Yes you are right. Sorry here is a Cig.

ICDEDPPL 03-01-2016 08:52 PM

Ryan you bored? I got some stuff over here I can put you to work!
You trying to make it 10x harder to sell? what a pain in the ass to get around and in/ out of.

sonic700 03-01-2016 09:57 PM

Yes Dan It's winter, I think of different things I always wanted to do. No changing the upholstery, just inquiring. This year it's just getting some paint work on the hatches and the deck. Then to the water. What else are you working on?

SS930 03-02-2016 06:04 AM

I would never consider converting a true pleasure cockpit into a full time 3 or 6 man setup unless it was going to be used for racing. Not only are they a PTA for pleasure use, but they also kill resale.

Without question, the best way to go would be to just add the third person insert to the front, like OL has been doing for years.

Oh my. When can you leave you engines together.

ICDEDPPL 03-02-2016 02:39 PM

Yeah no kidding, I`m getting real good at pulling those damn things... Short blocks are the last piece of the puzzle, then all should be done right and won`t have to come out for a while.

What if I do it for part time use then change it back?? Lol just messing. if I did do it I would keep all my pleasure cockpit so I have the option to change it back. This is all just winter talk anyways.

I would recommend new mount bolts. They sound pretty worn out. Hopefully they end up working great and you don't have any issues. This way you can cook me a burger at the beach instead of wrenching.

MrCIG 03-02-2016 05:04 PM

You are going to have to sleep standing up, cause half the time you never make it all the way in the cabin. LOL:champs:

Thats funny!

sonic700 03-02-2016 06:40 PM

Very true. Slept or passed out in the cockpit more times then getting in the cabin

302Sport 03-02-2016 06:44 PM

Sonic700, I'll sell you my front and rear bolsters, I'm sure you could retrofit them into your boat.

sonic700 03-02-2016 10:08 PM

Thanks for offering up your interior. My boat is up for sale right now, so no projects will be happening on it. If I ever did so some sort of a 6 man I would build it from scratch

How much for a gas cap, a few inches of scraped up clear coat off the deck, a few rub-rail screws, and one cleat (removed with a sawzall) from that Nortech you're parting out?

Right now it's only on Chicago craigslist. Soon to be on Oso

Ironmanwb 03-03-2016 04:24 PM

I always wanted to redo an older pleasure boat with a three man removable seat in the front and a rear bench that the bottom would drop out, and then put in 2 removable bolster armrests in the rear seat. I think one of the Apaches did that . This way you can have the best of both worlds.

Ironmanwb 03-03-2016 04:41 PM

Found it.

I think the craziest thing is 23000 lbs , no steps and 110+ mph................

I wonder how much weight they would drop just by taking out all of the safety gear and tools.
