1996 cafe racer wanting to up grade the stereo
 

finally bit the bullet , bought a 96 cafe racer
wanting to up grade the stereo
previous owner had replaced both pair of cockpit speakers, with JL AUDIO
sub outside the drivers seat[near floor] is original i want to replace it

has anyone updated theres system and can offer advice on speaker sizes and placement

wanting to add at least 2 pair under the rear seat and maybe another pair between rear and front seats and also replace sub ??
any help would be great

It that the green and white cafe with the sub box behind the bolsters?

Drop a couple of 12" subs under rear seat, a set of separates begin the bolsters and a set in front of the bolsters and a set in the cabin. Mount amps in the closer on the port side as you enter the cabin. I love JLsubs and my quart or focal miss/highs. I like PPI, zapco and kicker amps (in that order). Any of the big brand head units will work. You do t need marine grade stuff on a cafe. - Save your money.

Here is the link my install. I had car amps when we bought the boat but the moisture killed them eventually, they only lasted 5-6 years. I went with MTX Marine amps this time and they are crystal clear with no noise or distortion plus put out some serious power! Also the bluetooth connection on the Fusion radio works flawlessly!

I went with 6) 6.5" wet sounds speakers and 2) 12" Subs. It sounds insane with deep deep bass and super clear highs.

i went with four 6.5" polk audio mm's & two 12" kicker subs in the cockpit, in addition to the two polk 6x9's & 6.5's under the bolster. I think i am going to remove the 12's & go with four 10"s. My box was on the smaller end of the recommended size & didnt have the punch i was wanting.

I really like these little guys, I use some for charging and others to play Pandora/Google play thru the stereo without killing battery with bluetooth.

Building an enclosure for the subs made a HUGE difference.

I wired everything in on a 3rd battery via an isolator.
