My 2 lowers (SSM 3) are dull dirty after 21 yrs of sitting!.......doing the miantenance now, but on the appearance side
would like to bring back the luster...can you use an abrasive on the aluminum?..what steps are best and what products?

depends on how rough the surface is as to what grit or polish you should start with. post up a pic. i like to get to about 600-800 grit and then start with mothers polish. it seems to cut pretty good with a wool pad on a buffer.

OK....I'll post a picture...........the surface is very smooth (only 9 hours use) it's just very dull.
Also, while we're on the subject I have a simular condition with the props ...hardly used but
very dirty and dull...........need advice here also!

if they are smooth but dull. just pick your favorite polish and get to rubbing. i like to start with mothers. then i finish with a liquid rouge. a little tip. i like to do my finish polish with a latex glove instead of a micro fiber or terry cloth. the latex doesnt have any fibers in it to leave micro scratches that you can see when the sun hits it.
