I'm wondering if anyone knows anything about this boat? I have a buddy that has been talking to a broker about it for the last couple weeks. The broker has been really difficult to deal with and wanted my buddy to basically buy the boat without looking at it.

When he started talking about going out to look at it, and mentioned a survey and mechanical inspection the broker said it's a no bull**** deal and that the owner doesn't want to disturb the boat till spring.

This is the short version of the story but it seems sketchy to me. I'm just wondering if anyone can shed some light on this?

For that price, give him a refundable deposit, if it fails a leakdown/compression test or header pressure test you get the deposit back, it passes pony up the rest and drag her home.

Send a credit card deposit subject to inspection and survey, get a written contract with these contingencies in place. If the dealer will not accept these terms, he may still be legit - just being independent because he feels that it will go quick. A very attractive price if it is in good shape. Good Luck!

First, I wonder what the cash price would be to buy it straight from the owner?
Second, those videos aren't going to help sell the boat. Just my 2 cents:

It's been listed there for over 2 months now so there's no queue of buyers. I would tell the broker you'll book a flight to come and inspect the boat ASAP. I presume you can wait until the last minute and get a cheap flight? Confirm the day before, then book the flight and see for yourself. Your travel would probably be cheaper than a decent survey and seeing is believing.

If all looks good, she's passed inspection, pay a deposit subject to leak down test, survey, water test, whatever makes you happy. Now you've seen the boat and you're deposit will hold it for you.

Worst case scenario, you pay for a flight and the boat sells in that 24 hour period before you arrive. You'd spend more than that on a days fuel.

If the broker says it is not available for a visual inspection tell him to err, aah, umm, oops, sorry.......... I can't say that here!
