The budget got blown the first day we decided to take out the cabin........Hopefully we are getting to the end of it. I look at it as something that has to be done to enjoy the boat. There is really no other option than to fix it and do it right. I could mothball it and wait a couple of years and spend the money then.... but then I am paying insurance and storage on something I can't use.
It is what it is.

Questions for all of you out there. I have ALWAYS wanted a mahogany floor and now is the time to do it if I want to. I just don't want something that is pretty but utterly useless in a boat.
How bad are they to maintain, are they unbearably hot?
Are they too slippery?
Durability?
Has anyone used a commercial rubber/vinyl plank floor on a boat? I have been looking at this another option.

With no answers as yet I'll offer my opinion but will also suggest to PM Glass Dave, or maybe even better as the question in the Glass section.
Mahogany is a real nice color wood but the sun will bleach it out. Assuming your going to varnish it, when wet it will be a bit slippery. You also don't want to have anything on it which mat be wet or damp for any length of time. I think Teak is a better choice but still has some of the similar traits. May want to think about the imitation stuff

That is my dilemma . I love the look but am afraid of day to day utility. I am going to look at the rubber/vinyl stuff but I want it to look good not cheap or cheesy.
Yes a few of the playboys had them.
Whatever I put in will be sealed with epoxy.
