Cafe Racer Fuel Tanks??

Ok, can someone please put this to rest. i've ready several different stories.

I just purchased a 89 Cafe Racer. Are there 2 tanks or 1? do they cross fill?

I can fill up the port or starboard side, then attempt to fill the other, only for it to take 7-10 gallons and fuel spill out of the over flow.

I have a 91 café and 2 separate tanks , port tank runs port motor ,starboard runs starboard there is a set of valves -in engine compartment and i think you can tie the 2 together

Two 100g tanks, but mine are not cross connected. The valves in my engine compartment only turn on/off fuel supply.

Same here. I have experienced some issues getting fuel in on occasion (same as you describe) and have had to fiddle with how far I put the handle in/how slow I fill it at first.....
