What model is that? What is wrong here?
6 Attachment(s)
A friend saw this in Spain and Iīm trying to figure out what we have here. Which model is it? With my limited knowledge I can only say it looks like from the eighties with the flat deck.
But something seems wrong and I donīt mean the utterly ugly car seats. Isnīt the stern sitting too high in the water? |
looks like a miniature TG to me, hard to tell the length from the pics, that tan interior is BAD
|
my first guess was a Mistress, though the profile doesnīt match and friend says itīs much longer than 30". Maybe the seats are making it look shorter.
Ya the tan interior, the ugly seats, the anchor, the paintjob, the modern platform, nothing seems right here. Itīs a shame when people donīt appreciate classic lines. |
Mistress are 35'............ the bow rail, fuel fill's and vents on the side tell me TG
|
It looks like an old cig......could it have some lightweight diesels or V6's causing the stern to sit high?
|
That's an old gun. Pics make it look small but look at the deck, the hatches, the engine vents but most importantly the dash layout, the door the lower helm area, the tabs location the compass, etc.
I dig the maroon with tan interior. Not a fan of the car seats but other than that, nice boat! |
How embarrassing that I cannot even recognize the most popular cigarette, I still have to learn a lot. Somehow I found the deck so -uhm flat, so I thought itīs older.
Can it be that thereīs no notch? If so, it should be one of the first TGs, right? |
I've seen the boat featured all over the place on Instagram. Look up tareks_world as a username. He seems to be the owner. There are a bunch of pictures on there.
|
I think the notch started 88-89 ??....Tank will know.........I had two 92 Gun's that had notches
|
Just saw it on Instagram, there it is. Sounds like it still has the V8 Mercs, so at least itīs no diesel.
Well, a TG then, mystery solved. (And I try not to comment on the owner...) |

But I would really like to now why that thing sits so high in the water. Looks like it has no power in it. |

but yea, as I recall you're right. 90ish |
:D Hey, how could you forget, itīs only 14 years ago when Barry wrote:
Biggus, I have to disagree with you on the notch being added in 1989. My buddy bought Lethal Weapon, an '87 Top Gun, new and it had a notch from the factory. (This is the boat on Doller Marine's brochure.) The '86 top guns did not have a notch. http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/c...top-gun-2.html |
Its sitting high in the back due to all the weight up front! Look at that anchor set up!
|
I thought maybe he was sitting in that seat in the cabin and his heavy girlfriend was helping him along.
|
It may be sitting so high because it might be a Kevlar boat ( just a guess ) . My Flat Deck boat is a Kevlar hull and with 605 inch BBC and 5 drives it still sits pretty high in the water .

I think the logo's are to high exaggerating the appearance of sitting up

1st wanted to introduce myself. My name is Tarek, from Barcelona. 41 years old and Proud owner of this Cigarette Top Gun 38. 92. This is my 2nd Cigarrette as previously had a 35 Cafe Racer. Must say that im never into forums, specialy after reading all this comments. Been almost 2 years since i left Social Networks and after this picture. The other day i was with this girl which she told me that she saw some pics of my bike in google, as i also love Motorcycles. While i was cheking what she said i unfortunately saw this post.. we started reading all this comments and then we start talking about it. Why people just talk **** without even knowing. This supposed to be a forum of a passion that we all share no matter from where we are. This is for all the people that posted here: Maybe my Cigarette is not as fast as yours, maybe is not as badass as yours, maybe it doesnt sound as good as yours, maybe my anchor setup sucks, maybe my tan interior looks ugly, maybe my seats are not as nice as yours, maybe my paint job is not as good as yours. Maybe my fat GF is not as good looking than yours, and a long etc.. but did you ask yourself if i like it? I just came from Miami a couple of months ago and bought a pair of 525EFI, and new Merc SeaCore trims as i had old Mercury carbs. Just spend 90.000eur on it. You all know perfectly how expensive this hobby is. Im not a millionare, having this Cigarette is a dream for me. So yes, after reading all this bull**** i just had to give my point of view. At least thisistank had some nice words! Thank you all for your nice respect. This is the reason why i dont like forums, no matter what country it is, if its about boats, cars, motorcycles etc, its always the same bunch of people insulting and having a lack of respect for somebody that maybe has more passion than many of themselves. Musthave1 You said: i try not to comment on the owner. Do you have any problem with me? Do you know me? Thank you all for your kind words. Nice Forum! |
It wont bother me if you say that you dont like my white interior.........:drink:..........you will love the 525 EFI's....good luck with the engine swap

All the interest in this thread is because everyone that posted loves Cigarettes and likes seeing different stuff from around the world and trying to figure out what's what. It's all love brotha. Nice Cig. I really do love the color combo. So sexy. My daughter will be in Ibiza in June before heading to bologna Italy to hang with another OSO cigarette owner. Her fiancé owns a pretty well known performance boat shop in Lake Havasu, Az. (www.barrettcustommarine.com). If you're near Ibiza and want a few shirts, let me know. Tank |

Hey Tarek, don't get discouraged. I think the only thing that could of even remotely been taken as negative was from Interceptor and I'm positive he was just joking around. I guess the original poster (and me actually) like the stock bolster seats better. But hey, everyone has an opinion and you know the saying about opinions right? TxHawk (Matt) comment on the anchor isn't negative at all. Weight hanging over the bow like that can really affect not only how the boat can sit in the water but really affect the performance and center of gravity. I know in my Top Gun, I tried storing my anchor under the V-birth at the front of the bow and it completely messed with the CG. Running down to the Keys in my buddies Tiger we couldn't put the luggage in the front of the vee birth because it would cause the boat to porpoise. Tank to the rescue! Your always keeping the peace the land of cigs!!! Different note, did an anchor really mess up the ride that mutch? Dude! Yes! It was crazy. Of course it was a pretty heavy anchor and a big bag of chain. In flat water BIG difference! Same running Tim’s old tiger (the green yellow purple #6 boat) down to key west. Tried putting all the luggage up past the zippered bulkhead. Oaf! Boat did NOT like that at all! Lesson learned - less weight out front the better. |
I know weight displacement in a small boat can have a big impact.. I never experienced that with our gun. Then again all bags were placed on the cabin floor since they would end up there anyway.... lol |
I think you're being too sensitive. Spend some time here, its the greatest group of people around and very few entitled millionaires. It's mostly hard working guys with a passion for cigs and most do their own work. Give it a chance.... |
I just re read the whole thread...I think there was maybe one comment that could be taken as negative. Need some thicker skin rogue one...I think the boat looks cool. Good luck with the new power. |
I've never seen boats docked this way. Is this a local thing ? European as a hole thing ? I think it would make e nervous for a bit.

Yep ^^^^ anchor out the front then back the boat in and secure with a couple of stern ropes. Hence the anchor/winch is a necessity. Most larger yachts/cruiser also have a hydraulic passarelle (gangway) comes out the transom for boarding. Rogue One, don't worry too much about a negative comment, everyone has different tastes and needs. I don't think anyone here would intentionally try to be offensive, it's a great forum with a good knowledgeable group of boat lovers. If someone doesn't like your boat, it probably means he's jealous. :) Hope you can join in, I always like to read input from outside the U.S. too. RR |
I am still dying to know whats under the hatch in the original pic... |
Had to double take on the pictures. Was wondering how the heck he docked like that until I saw the front was roped. were horizontal tabs normal back then? |
Hi Tarek, As I started this I owe you an answer. You are right, some of my comments were inapropiate, not well thought and maybe even rude. I didnīt consider that thereīs a proud owner behind this boat who chose the look and the style and I didnīt even think he would see this. These were my mistakes and itīs good that you pointed it out to me. As others said, this shouldnīt disencourage you from joining this forum (well, you already did). People are friendly here and extremely helpful. There is such an incredible wealth of knowledge accumulated here, you can ask almost any question and people will be happy to answer and to help. Why not take the oportunity and discuss your boat? While I just critized your anchor setup, others shared their experience how it can affect the balance of your boat. Isnīt that good to know? Then the initial question why your boat sits so high up in the water. If I were you I would measure the distance between the water line and the rubrail and ask others to compare to their TG of a similar age. Maybe itīs just the photo or the color and itīs completely normal. If it were my boat, I would want to know. Looking at your Cigarette again I have to admit I start liking the red/tan color scheme, reminds me in a 90īs Ferrari 348 which often came like this. Not a bad choice. But again and this is not an insult, just an honest personal opinion: The car seats donīt look good and spoil the lines. There are also practical reasons why fast boats have bolsters. Let us know how the new engines work out for you and maybe you want to post some photos. And wo knows, maybe one day I will say hello. My brother and family and the friend who sent the photos live in Barcelona and once a year I visit them. También hablo espaņol. But donīt punch me in the face, ok? Un saludo! Joaquín |
