Man cave question
12 Attachment(s)
As many of you already know, we .....HORBA....have tons of photographs (Over 100,000) from the top photographers of offshore racing from the 60's, 70's and 80's.
We have been asked many times, if we could put together a "Set of photos" from a specific time period or specific boat size or brand, that was an offshore race boat. Staying strictly with Cigarette as a brand......what would Cigarette owners like to see.... if they were going to buy a set for their.... Man Cave or Office or Study or Boat House or Garage? Such as.....The 32 Cary's that were the first Cigarettes, or the 36 footers or the 35 footers or the 40 footers or the 39 footers or the 37.6 footers?? And how many would a"SET" be 4 - 6 -8 -12?? We would feature them in our Online Store www.historicraceboats.com Thanks for your input |
for me it would depend on the size. Personally I'd be happy with 2 if they could be poster size vs 6 small 5x7's

We will be bringing them over after the first of the year. He is finishing all the pre order models for Christmas orders. He is also looking at doing a smaller version of the 32 foot Cary that we sold before. That model was 32 inches and the new ones will be approx 18 inches. |

It will be on the new site after January 1 with a lot more items for sale. |

Thank you for your input. We will have both posters in the 24 X 36 inch sizes and photos in the 12 X 8 inch sizes plus we are putting together various "Groups" of photos for purchase also.
We have been working on the new book for 2018 called Don Aronow, the Man and his many offshore racing boats. From this we realized we have so many different boats that evolved one from the one before that this would make a nice "Group" also. The more we are working on this, the more ideas we get. Feel free to write at any time with any additional ideas for ways to keep the history of offshore racing alive. |

We have a new model builder in Europe that has been producing models of the 35 foot Cigarette for us.

Another 35 footer from the 70's Limit Up
He also has been working on the 38 foot Bertram and the 37.6 Cigarette, more commonly known as the Top Gun, like Ajac Hawk and Brut and Popeyes were. |
For me a nice set would be 6 pics that could be clustered together and offer them in different sizes (8x10, 11x17, 16x20, 24x30).
Maybe do a set for each size, then sets that include one of each size (32, 35, 36, 37.5, 39 etc.), and possibly do sets of famous racers boats through the years (Betty Cook, Rocky, Don, Etc.) People always have their favorite driver or boat name. |
Very cool stuff. Keep us posted

What is the price on the models ? I have a customer that would like one of Conspiracy the 35 cigarette that we are just finishing up with.

With currency exchanges etc, we are estimating these 35 foot models will be in the $750 to $950 range.....this is model and case only....Shipping and Handling from Europe, will be on top of that. HORBA has members all over the world and as with the model of The Cigarette, we had sales from the USA, to Norway, to Hawaii and Japan, so until we know exactly where it is going, we can't give a shipping cost. Then again some will want them right away and others would wait for a slower shipping method. But as of now, the model and case cost will be in that $750 to $950 range. |
